I think keeping him in the current landscape possibly makes sense
But he should be on very thin ice

100%. If they’re keeping him now there can be zero excuses about injuries or leaky roofs. we have to perform to an adequate standard. No more conceding 20+ shots a game and finishing with negative GD.
Thin ice my ass
600+ injuries will do that to anyone
Can’t believe we have to put with your excuses for another season man

Glad he’s staying but no need for a contract extension yet lmao, give it til December and see where we are
I’m confident things won’t be as bad as last season but there’s still question marks
The contract extension is probably their way of trying to build back trust/smooth over the fact that they spoke to multiple other managers and took almost 3 weeks to make the decision.
I don’t actually think it gives security, if we’re bad in October or November they’ll probably let him go, but it gives the illusion of security.

Just means he'll have to be paid a s*** load more if he "Eh"'s his way into an empty midfield again

I think even the most hardened ETH fan could acknowledge last season was beyond injuries
We saw out of nowhere in the last 2-3 games in the season the compact style of play without Hojlund starting & how much better that worked
His ignorance & refusal to adapt nearly cost him the job - he needs to change that, fast

Put Martinez in there and a stable backline and a better DM and no chance in hell we’d be having this convo

Yes, having the best players available makes life easier - but it's not real life
He needs to be more adaptable - and this ignorance 'we can't change our play style because of the progress' that G Nev lapped up can't happen anymore
Not even the best teams, but other teams can at least play without having their all-star XI

Like Fergie said. Losing (while sticking to your principles) is part of the progress.
3 disastrous seasons from the best manager in football… it’s not always as easy as winning games

And on that note, we cannot forget will.i.am's words of wisdom:
When you hate, then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

What's the expectation for ETH this season?
Top 3? Europa semi's / final?
Challenge for second place with Arsenal (City easily gonna win another one, so title has to wait at least another year) and with this new format and no knockedout CL teams or Sevilla/Villareal in EL he needs to win it. (Except if he finally begins to treat it like the second rate competition it is and just plays youth and bench players)
According to himself last season was an anomaly with the injuries and can be discarded so I say that we to do better than his first season so at least place 3 and a trophy

If Luke Shaw and Licha are fully fit for the season - treble minimum

Can’t speak for Grenouille, but realistically the only way anyone on here even approaches your current love for Ten Hag is if we have a Pool 2019/2020 start to the season.
