In what way exactly, he was pretty good whenever he played for City. But I’ve yet to see anything from him that makes me think he’s a worldclass player or anything, he’s also already 24. Scoring a few goals here and there isn’t that impressive in this City side. But for some reason Chelsea and City can sell the biggest mid for incredible prices while we struggle to get 25 mil for McTominay and still have Lindelof in our squad.

Only 24, plays multiple positions, pressing machine, never gets injured seemingly, can score goals but also link up play/get assists.

Add on his mentality to that, what he would have learned from playing for Pep, international experience winning a WC. That stuff I know may seem intangible but character counts for a lot.

Plus if we look at the fee breakdown it is 75m euros with 20m in potential add-ons. If you firstly discount the add-ons, is he worth 75m euros? In this day and age with his skillset, a lack of quality forwards, and the fact that 75m increasingly feels like nothing, then I would say absolutely yes.

Including the add-ons, assuming at least they're not just 'play 10 games', if he does well enough to meet the criteria, then what's another 20m euros in a structured long-term deal? Peanuts.

He was also only on 100k pounds at City as well reportedly, so yeah his wages will bump up but probably not to the point where it's so gigantic on top off the transfer fee.

And on your last point, I think everyone is just wisening up that it doesn't make sense anymore to buy ageing players (on high salaries) for high prices. Why would you pay 30 odd mil for Mctominay when you could buy someone younger (who yes is probably not as good right now) with a higher ceiling and higher resale and more years available to play. Lindelof's contract expires next summer, wouldn't you rather wait than pay 15 mill for a 30 year old who missed 20 games injured last season.

The 'mid' players that Chelsea/City sell for lots, at least they're young and have potential. And when they do come good, well you have a Palmer on your hands.

And I'm not saying he is world class yet but I think you are making a mistake in judging 81m to still be a world class player fee. It's now a good, talented player with potential to improve fee.

This is the 81m mark - and we're now 24/25, some of these were back in 19/20

Yeah I guess 80 mil ain’t what it used to be, but all of these were at least star players from the club they came.

I don’t get how we’re not able to find a compromise over Ugarte when they want Sancho, surely something can be arranged

Sure, but many also came with less experience at the most competitive heights of football and more potential to flop.

Idk if Alvarez is all that tho. Palmer caught everyone by surprise but he barely had any games under his belt. We’ve seen 2 seasons of Alvarez being a squad player for city. From that idk how he’s become the most expensive striker signing.

It's a team that had an abundance of quality depth, rotates a lot, and it's a team that naturally might have to sacrifice him for some big games when Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden are all available.

Last season bagged 19 g/13a in 54 appearances. Was 9th for most minutes played in their squad. Getting chopped and changed into different positions and roles throughout, rarely his favoured one.

Also forgot to say he's good from set pieces as well, both corners and freekicks.

streets will never forget his 13 minutes against napoli

he basically pulled a malacia after that, the fact that besides that ucl game he never played a single minute and like 2 u21 games while being fit for most of the time still kills me

this deal needs to be studied, we never got any further details regarding his liverpool tenure and i want and need to know everything about that loan spell

you can hate on Amrabat all you want but this loan spell can’t be ever beaten, absolute masterclass and broad day robbery if Juve really got paid those 5 mil or something

Transfer window is a fail for me so far

Ineos inability to shift dead wood & inability to bring more in is very concerning start

Eth will be gone by Christmas.. partly as a result of this window and partly because of his core management

technically yes but it was a part of that fishy arthur-pjanic trade so not really - barca paid 60m for pjanic (lol) just to send him to besiktas a year later and juve got arthur for 80m, money laundering😍❤️

23 days left in the window and looks like we’re making no progress on any outgoings.

I don’t fully blame Ineos, they’re trying to clean up a mess that is 1. Terrible history of transfer business 2. Players on immovable wages 3. Years of poor squad planning

But that won’t save eth’s job when we’re 12th because casemiro is playing Centre back next to Evans.

Yeah, I think it's fair to acknowledge the mess they're in

But.. there's players that can be shifted not locked behind big wages that are still at the club

McTom is on 78k a week
