There is no “magic man”. Stop believing in the cult of some legendary manager and more importantly that they are less disposable than players. Stop pitting some sort of manager v player dichotomy. Both can not be up to par.

I expect the manager - whoever he may be - to be winning substantially more matches than loses.

Before we appointed Amorim, he had the CV. It hasn’t transpired on the pitch. It very likely never will. That’s how these things go — all parties move on and go again.

The replacement will likely be someone who is also impressing on his CV at the time. It’s then on that guy to start succeeding. If he doesn’t, the process starts again.

In all fairness to Amorim, the setup creates a lot of chances that Holjund and Garnacho just don’t finish - I saw a stat saying Garnacho has missed 14 big chances this season. If you look at the Lyon game as a separate example, the first leg was a comfortable 2-0 win which Onana tried his hardest to throw.

I’m not saying that excuses how bad the team are or that he shouldn’t be doing better, but there’s definitely a case for giving him a full preseason and clearing out these bums so we can bring in better/more suited players.

To be delusional, Liverpool have won 2 prems in 25 years, we’ve been on a downward spiral for almost half that time.

So-so. Some games we genuinely do carve up good chances, others the actual quality of chances isn’t there.

If you look at the underlying stats (I know some vehemently hate this) — we are 12th on that “xP” table. I don’t massively care for xG and xGA other than being a face value barometer but generally speaking it shows where a club is about.

If this is real, it could be a signal of future transfer strategy or at least a change in approach to buying directly from South America like Brighton, Madrid, etc

I think our last attempt was Pellistri?

Diego Leon is a done deal, I believe

And still managed to win five trophies in our worst period in modern history

Well tbh I still think he’s a horrendous midfielder, but as a striker he would have def scored more goals than Hojlund and Zirkzee combined.

The guy hid in the middle of the park for 5+ years but I'm supposed to believe he would suddenly revolutionise the side because he's scoring in serie ass
