Think Watkins could be the better move, Sesko is much more of a risk and I don’t trust it to pay off for us.

I think Watkins kind of does what he says on the tin. He’s an immediate, mid to upper level PL player. In a market that’s sorely lacking quality options and with more coveted players not considering us, you can’t really say fairer.

His stats very much reflect that sort of sentiment. Since joining Villa (PL only):

2023/24: 37 games; 19 goals; 13 assists
2022/23: 37 games; 15 goals; 6 assists
2021/22: 35 games; 11 goals; 2 assists
2020/21: 37 games; 14 goals; 5 assists

Total: 184 games; 75 goals; 34 assists

A goal every 2.4~ games, a G/A every 1.68~.

I think, in an ideal world, we’d shelve the money and go big on a no.9 next summer but I really don’t think we can afford to. Hojlund is a net negative on our football.
