I get the pile on, I'm not happy either
But Mainoo is absolutely not as good as people are making him out to be
Just was the 18-19 year old casually banging in a great goal vs our biggest rivals, scoring and being MOTM in a cup final vs City, completely transforming England's midfield, bossing Netherlands in Euro semi final, playing in yet another final after that.
More than good enough, has to be playing and developing further. Keep this up and we alienate and lose him, or his development stalls more.
to state the obvious, this team will end up nowhere if a midfielder isnt brought in alongside goalkeeper.
You genuinely think LVG, ETH, Ole, and Amorim are on the same level as the other names? Not denying we have other problems but man
We're largely the reason that they're not lol.
LVG has a fantastic CV, and it's more varied than any of the names you mentioned. Won titles with Ajax, AZ, Barcelona (crucially before La Liga became a two team league) and Bayern. Won the UCL with Ajax, etc. Then he came to United, and that effectively ended his club managerial career.
Mourinho was a serial winner... then he came to United and hasn't sniffed a title or top job since. (Obviously still regarded as one of the greats)
Ten Hag would've certainly been picked up by a Bayern or Barcelona if we didn't come knocking, he still had a chance to go to Bayern even after the season he finished 8th with us. Who knows how that would've gone or what light he would be talked about in now had the United stink not gotten on him.
I'm not trying to take anything away from any of the names you mentioned, Luis Enrique is probably my favorite manager in football at the moment, but to me, it's hard to fully judge managers who have only managed in one or two team leagues/have unlimited money.
What Conte did with Napoli was nothing short of a miracle, and what he did at Chelsea was great, but he's also floundered and crashed out in the Premier League, in a situation far less dysfunctional than the state United seem to be constantly in.
There is not a manager alive that this club couldn't soil the reputation of, I truly believe that...
... but I also think things can be better than they are now.
what is different between our 3421 versus glasners palace? cause I watched that today and I mean they lack some quality but that formation does work for them.

They have a proper midfield lmao

Facts
The stars would need to align in ways not seen in this sport for a manager to come to United and thrive almost instantly
We're largely the reason that they're not lol.

Did the club expedite these managers failing? Yeah, probably. Did these managers do anywhere near good enough? No.
van Gaal was on a downward trajectory. We picked him up from the Dutch national team where he was earning 50 euros and a stoopwafel for his efforts. The elite stuff on his CV was all before Mamba was born in the 90s.
Mourinho was also on a very clear downward trajectory - his final season at Chelsea was very obvious signs that the āspecial oneā had lost his way in the modern game. He lost 9 of his first 16 PL matches (sitting 15th in the league) and got knocked out of the cup by Stoke. Grand scheme, and with hindsight considering all the managers since, he did the best, but he still wasnāt enough.
āUnited stinkā didnāt ruin ten Hag. The man came in and played his first ever game with Christian Eriksen as a false nine. He then spent the bulk of his time here playing without a central midfield and the rest of his time was earning kickback on player signings with his sonās agency firm.
Letās not let hindsight blind us here. Every manager - including the guy there now - has been given far longer than they deserved. The managers should take just as much (probably more) culpability for their failings.
that touch by cunha around 15 min was crazy btw. hope he stays here for a decade with or without Ruben.

good a***ysis. but idk if solution really is to move on this soon. especially with the way the squad is setup to basically be a 3421 only for foreseeable future.
If only Cunha got one of his chances and Fernandes put away the penalty
The conversation would be so different
Something Iāve raised many times already this preseason and start of the season ā outside of the blindingly obvious, this system and the style of play seem incongruent with creating consistent clear cut chances for its players.
Outside of Cunhaās one v one (created by our goalkeeper lol), and Fernandesā penalty, I donāt think Leno was troubled in the match.
Iām taking that loss to Grimsby if it guarantees Amorim being sacked
I canāt take another season of this

So you think if we continued to play with the same intent and intensity of the first ten minutes for the rest of the game, or at least for 30 more minutes during different patches, we wouldnāt have won?

Why do you think we couldnāt maintain the intensity set in the first 10 minutes? Answers on a postcard.
ā¦and considering Real were in for the kid. This is crazy.
There must be something in the water at United š¤

Iām open to the idea that a different manager or system might make us play slightly better, I donāt believe that this group of players would necessarily be that much better with a different system, Iām confident sticking with this manager and signing confident players like Cunha and quality like Mbuemo will improve us longer term, if a realistic goal this season is finishing 6th it means frustrating games like these happen, but if we get too many games like these the noise gets too loud and the manager will go
I donāt believe that football is as simple as tactics being everything, thereās a lot more that needs to go right and it feels like weāre working on it, the result yesterday is better than what we wouldāve gotten last season, and the brief positive passages of play give me enough reason to remain hopeful, but itās clear confidence is still a problem and we need to start winning or it doesnāt matter and heāll get sacked regardless

Logic behind backing Onana but a manager should go at the first sign of trouble?
I'll take it on a postcard if that's your desired format
Also big LOL at the d***head who thought turnover based chance creation is the worst thing ever
Liverpool won the league from it and continue to play that way so far

Obviously Iām f***ing trolling about Onana man
I do think heāll still be better than Dannyās cousin though
