    what about a maresca?

Weird one — I think he’s a decent manager but much like Amorim he is a purist, just in a different way. Maresca wants his side to control the ball (which is a plus), but he’s equally rigid on his principles etc.

I think he’d probably do well enough — win a few minor trophies with backing like he has done for Chelsea, but that’s probably his ceiling. Not sure if he’s seasoned enough for a full PL title chasing slog

During the summer window Ruben was subtly saying the board didn't buy players for him by always stressing that they would work in different formations and with a different manager after he's gone, he stopped being so PR trained about it lately and was saying how he's been pressured to play a different formation because he's treated as a head coach not a manager, so no the board doesn't like 3-4-3

Well. Scrap my Glasner shout then.

Watching from the outside its a circus. Why not trust the guy they got like 16 months ago with buying to his system

  • "RUBEN AMORIM was angry at the lack of backing from Manchester United over his transfer targets in a stunt which ultimately led to his sacking.

United insiders told SunSport they believed Amorim’s decision to take his clash with the club hierarchy public could result in his sacking – and that’s exactly what happened on Monday morning."

I think he is decent aswell, but Chelsea is a circus aswell, so you cant really judge him on that

"Amorim voiced his approval of United’s strategy to sign players for the club, rather than the manager, in an interview with British journalists during pre-season.

Just five months ago, Amorim said: ā€œI think it’s a good thing. I think it personally, I think Jason and also Omar, that all the players that we want to bring to Manchester, any coach will want them.

ā€œThis is not my style. And I can guarantee you, if you bring any manager here, they will say, Bryan (Mbeumo), thank you. Matheus Cunha, thank you.ā€"

Because he was on a 31% win ratio. They did back him, perhaps not as much as the manager would have liked, but the idea he wasn’t given a fair shake is just apology mongering.

They backed him with two PL proven attackers who scored 20+ goals, got him a new no.9 albeit unproven - in a market that was bereft (Gyokeres didn’t want him, Isak didn’t want us, and Ekitike opted for Liverpool). He wanted Watkins, a player the club rightly vetoed given the price he would’ve cost, and a player who started the season with 1 goal in 19 matches.

The club didn’t give him perfect backing, but this is a grown man hired to COACH the football club. He didn’t do it well enough, and that ultimately led to his demise. That’s how life goes.

He was signed as a head coach

    Yep

  • "However, after news of his sacking, United sources told SunSport there was no power struggle with Amorim and that he received unwavering support from everyone at the club.

The club claim Amorim was simply unhappy by United’s lack of progress and evolution.

Yet the timing of Amorim’s dismissal comes less than 24 hours after his extraordinary outburst that he be referred to as the manager, not the head coach.

Insiders have reiterated that the new head coach would have to be a part of a collaborative approach that supports the structure."

The last part sounds true the rest not so much

Yeah sure, but didnt Amorim say when he got hired that he would wait for the summer to join? But United ultimately said " It's now or never " because it was such a different system from ETH.

Amorim didnt do well enough, and thats fair, and with his latest pressconference he prolly saw the writing on the wall.

It's just a circus looking from the outside. Why get a 3 back manager if the board doesnt like it.

I hope i'm not offending anyone, i'm just genuinely baffled from a Liverpool fan perspective

Amorim knew he was a failure at United and knew he couldn’t turn it around anymore. He knew these comments would get him sacked and get him the sacking fee. It’s not that difficult to understand.

All signs point to that we're gonna sign another largely unproven head coach like Ruben and continue down the same path
