I get it’s easy to not have any sympathy for players who are making hundreds of thousands of pounds a week, but expecting a club wide lack of ambition to not trickle all the way down to on-pitch performance is a bit naive.

He’s also presumably not the only one who feels this way. Granted, it was said in the middle of the summer and without any kind of malice, but both Shaw and Maguire talked about how they were going to be excited to see the club invest in their positions… and then that obviously didn’t happen.
