Fellaini was great entertainment and save us multiple times, weird how we miss that era of banter FC
Funnily enough one of the best signings we've made post-SAF
I believe Moyes asked for Kroos and was promised Fabregas

As far as I recall, Kroos had supposedly been sorted pre-Moyes sacking, but then LVG didn't want Kroos.
Moyes turned down Thiago and persisted on trying to get Fabregas even though it was clear that move wasn't gonna get made, then panicked and settled for Fellaini last minute.

Imagine if we signed Thiago back then

Massive shame we never saw Carrick play next to Thiago/Fabregas/Kroos

Sources didn’t have to tell me this. I watch the games
We’re being linked with McGinn ffs
Love Fergie to pieces but I think he'd be the first to admit he's got a clear bias for Scottish players

McGinn's class. We need 2 or 3 new midfielders at this point. Wouldn't say no to him, among others, considering the lack of feasible options out there.

He’s alright but it’s clearly fellow countryman journalism with the boss and Fletch
The same way Fred could be reported as wanting Neymar lol

McGinn is a decent player, but is he that much better than what we have now? Is he better than Scott?
Ogden is always chatting s***.
But more importantly, I never give any weight to this nonsense about Solskjaer getting dumped with a player he didn't want.
Its known that he, like all our managers, have a veto on transfers. Far better sources have also said that VDB was not positioned as a replacement for Pogba. He was wanted and seen as a good option, due to the reduced price and competition in the market (from Covid's impact on rival finances), to provide rotation with Bruno.

Better than Mctominay and Fred imo.
Is he much much better? No.
Would there be cheaper options of similar quality abroad? Potentially, but i'm not so sure. I think he's better than anyone I've seen us linked to recently - barring Kessie (which is gonna be a crazy competative transfer) and Bellingham (who'll cost a fortune and I doubt Dortmund want to sell just yet)

I disagree on some of the VDB stuff but definitely agree that Ogden is worth taking with a pinch of salt
I wouldn't mind McGinn as a squad player/rotation, but he should not be expected to play 40+ games season

Would be great to get Kessie on a free, from the few games of him I’ve seen he has been amazing for Milan.

Problem is that almost all our midfielders are decent squad players

Very few players I would want playing 40+ games a season ideally. Gotta get back to using the squad effectively and rotating.
For all the talk, rightly and wrongly, of moving away from the SAF blueprint, that's one aspect which should be revived.
McGinn at least brings energy levels and mentality second to none.

Yeah desperately want him too. Wages and sign on fee will be mad though I expect. Think PSG were at the forefront last I read.

Completely agree and I think the average supporter would look at Fred/McTominay much differently if asked to do the same
Both nearly made 50 appearances last season
