But, if Liverpool are after him then by that logic we should want him. Their scouting doesn't miss. Clearly Klopp thinks he's good enough and can develop further.

Everybody is gonna miss sometime, I’m not saying he’s is a bad player and could obviously do good at an already great Liverpool side, but for his price (£80 mil min) he would not improve our squad massively in any way in a way I think De Jong could. Different teams need different players. Also from the games I’ve seen of him he mainly benefits from his physicality, but his first touch and passing skills are subpar.

Neither should we, especially if we have a limited budget. Midfield should be our priority in my opinion, that’s the area we can improve the most. Then we should be looking at right-backs a left-footed Centreback and only then an attacker imo, we already have plenty of players that have proved that they are able to score 20+ goals in a season. If we got a forward I think we should be looking at a real right winger, haven’t had one for over 7 years or so.

Think you need two midfielders to be honest. Even if Frenkie comes, you just lost Mata, Pogba and Matic and even if 2/3 of that trio didn’t play much, you’re low on depth. I assume Garner is coming back though.

Frenkie, a DM, and Eriksen plus a RB/CB would be a great window for us. They seem to be slacking though, I feel like we'll miss the boat on Eriksen.

I fully agree, that’s why I said that getting our midfield sorted should be our priority. We need a balanced midfield that can actually play football, only De Jong might not be enough.

I think our defence will also improve a lot if we get a better midfield including De Jong. Maguire for example was terrible under pressure, but he also doesn’t have anyone to pass the ball to in a lot of situations because our midfielders are literally hiding from the ball. De Jong is a midfielder that excels at getting the ball from defence and starting an attack.

The issues from that are pretty clear (the GK one I think will be a problem for next season, too much to fix right now), but our CBs rarely get into build-up because they have absolutely nobody in midfield to give the ball to.

Like you say, Frenkie’s signature move is to come deep into his own half, take the ball, spin a midfielder and progress the ball 15 yards forward. Something massively needed in this side to play through the middle
