wasn’t ziyech better during his last ajax season than antony is now?
https://twitter.com/fabrizioromano/status/1562418178868879360this can get really embarrassing really fast
He was like 4 years older and a completely different profile. Not particularly comparable
Can we just sign ziyech for 20% of this cost - absurd fee he’ll never live up to it.
I will vomit if we have Fernandes, Eriksen, and Ziyech in one team
They all literally do the same thing in slightly different positions

Fair. I wonder what we’ll do if Ronaldo leaves, martial is injury prone and won’t stay in form - need a real backup available that isn’t rashford.
potentially losing a whole 11
Cavani
Elanga Lingard Greenwood
Matic Pogba
Telles Axel Bailly AWB
Henderson
elanga linked with loan move if we sign antony same with awb if we get another RB. you also have garner, williams, axel and jones who could leave. andreas and mata left as well. dont know if i missed anyone
how much we saving in wages? potentially ronaldo as well. glazers never put a penny in and have saved a lot of money this summer lets not forget that. we need more players
Casemiro alone cover the wage of like 6 players there
Lord know how much we pay eriksen and martinez
I'm gonna miss Antony but 100 million for a Eredivisie player is bonkers so as long as Ziyech makes a return i'm fine with it at the end of the day Ajax gets the biggest W if that happens
But Antony is one of the most entertaining footballers i have ever seen at Ajax period and Ajax has had gems on top of gems

This is another thing no one mentions, we've saved a fortune this summer on the wage bill & not replaced many of them at all
just a quick word of advice
if you happen to see de jong trending tonight, don’t click it
Lol
speaking of FDJ I can't shake the feeling he will be joining United next week
Showboat king
Has the potential to get bums off their seats that OT hasn’t seen since… Nani?
First season Martial had dribbling ability but it kind of went away as he got bulkier

Y'all just bought Casemiro for the 6 position for some cash and about to spend a hunnid mill on Antony. Dream on
Would rather see FDJ go to Bayern to dominate the midfileld there for the coming years. Only Prem team i'd see him make his mark is under Pep at Man City

This is a thread for a big club, so I don't expect you to understand

People over here in the Netherlands call him overrated all the time, mostly because his lack of assist/goals in the Eredivisie, which make people (and it's justified looking at the stats) think he will flop in the Prem since it's been a while for a Eredivisie player to make that leap and perform right away
But idk man, Antony is really something special to me and i feel he has the drive to really make it. He's not a typical lazy showboat Brazilian player. He works hard and i have full trust in him
100 Million is still crazy though, no matter how much i love Antony if we get that and Ziyech for 30-40 tops then that's a HUGE w for Ajax

Yikes no need to come at me like that for no reason at all, FDJ has stated himself that he wants to stay at Barca don't be mad at me
I'm simply sharing my thoughts on the fact that i don't think he fits the Prem and i wouldn't advise Ten Hag to hoard all ex colleagues/dutch players in case things turn sour in terms of results... which has been happening for years at United
Also Ajax still have more Champions League titles than Man Udt.... And is one of the most universally respected clubs in the world as well, they can't help their geographical location of being stuck in the Netherlands
More respect would be at place for the stuff Ajax has achieved getting less TV money than even the lowest placed club in the Prem
Man Udt and Ajax both are amazing clubs with a rich history fam

Yeah the thing I've read most from Ajax fans is that if youre just looking at Antony from the point of view of goals/assists then you're missing out on the most important facet of his play - how hard he works off the ball and the space that creates for others.
This is another thing no one mentions, we've saved a fortune this summer on the wage bill & not replaced many of them at all
Our wage bill was f***ing massive. It needed reducing. It's not just a case of bloating it up to the same extent again.
And most of those barely played whatsoever. It's not like Lingard needs replacing.

Yeah you’re spot on
Also since he out dribbles literally everybody in the league he always has like 2-3 defenders up his ass
The only downside to Antony imo is sometimes he has those weird moments where he can’t seem to behave and lacks sportsmanship. He doesn’t have a great reputation amongst the supporters besides the Ajax side for that reason
I personally love his style and flair though

Agree to some extent. It shouldn't be 1:1 but that same money can now be used for better players, or more players of quality depth

you can reduce it and add quality. eriksen is getting paid what mata was.
cavani was on 250k a week. we havent signed a forward yet

Negotiations w Chelsea came to a standstill
Wonder if it has consequences for the Antony transfer

He's also not really consistent imo. But that has to do with his age too

I've read it, but anything can still happen. Ziyech doesn't want to have another year on the bench, and has has multiple talks with people at Ajax. Also Chelsea let Werner go to his former club for like half the amount of which he was bought initially
I don't think Ajax can keep Antony. Close to a 100 million is just too big for any Eredivisie club to pass on, even for Ajax
