yesacten Hag is building something, we’re seeing a major change in play style for a group of confidence players so used to negative counter attack football, once a lot of the players are cycled out and we get some new starters and depth we’ll be much stronger
I don't disagree, but that doesn't change the fact that once Newcastle really start spending their money, there's going to be 2 automatic CL spots in the Premier League and 5-6 teams fighting for the final 2 spots.

And Necastle aren't just gonna instantly skyrocket to a guaranteed 1st or 2nd place team.

That’s not gonna happen imo, City have been run almost perfect as a football club for a while now, it’s recruitment and coaching that have gotten them in this position while we’ve been stuck in the middle and spending less overall but nevertheless a f***load
City’s biggest strength is consistency, which is what Arsenal have been building to and we’ll get to if we do it right, can’t see it becoming a permanent 2 horse race

what does that mean really start spending money? we have the same budget as they do, and they have to deal with financial fair play. and nobody wants to go to Newcastle.

The hope is that will stop happening when we do have our first XI. The drop in quality (and intensity) from Fernandes, Antony, and a match fit Martial to what we had on the field this afternoon is gigantic
We have to somehow hobble to 4th place, and give ten Hag the backing next summer. I don’t think the club will give him another forward in January so we will have to pray Martial stays fit for the rest of the season

True, but injuries aren’t helping tbh. Martial back at least and if Antony and Varane are back in the team after the World Cup it’s ok. Still I don’t get how we aren’t in for players in the January window

Think we haven’t really been playing that well in a lot of our games. Been playing better for most parts, but still not all together. Playing Ronaldo is a hinderance to the way ETH wants to play. He made a mistake picking the same squad from Thursday. But no Bruno and Antony so not a lot he could do about that. Again overall squad depth is weak with the amount of fixtures coming up.
Arsenal made lots of changes from Thursday game and rotated, again better depth

I think part of ten Hag using Ronaldo so much is almost him making a statement to the owners — “look at this guy, this is the reason you won’t give me a striker in January?” energy. He even brought Maguire on upfront last game lmao

While I think results like this are an inevitability of rebuilding a team from complete dogshit to hopefully something great, I can't do the full delusional optimist because this last week it really hit me that it's going to be yet another year without a trophy. These bench players (and a lot of first teamers) are simply too s*** for things to fall into place for a trophy run in 2023.
