I'd drop Eriksen, to be honest

Love the guy but think part of the problem last time was that off the ball he doesn't offer much & City walked through the midfield last time

Casemiro will change it but he's only one man

I'd also play AWB because he's on form right now & Dalot isn't

It’s a really awkward one because Eriksen is very good on the ball but he’s so atrocious off it

I would probably still start him but get Fred on the second he starts getting ran in behind

I always thought this as well, but isn't this false? Maybe I'm remembering s*** wrong but I thought he covered almost the most distance per match from the entire squad.

He covers distance and has a good engine generally speaking (for a guy who literally died and came back to life) but in terms of being dribbled past, his ability in 50/50s, his general pace etc… — super lightweight in the middle. Especially in big games

I see what you mean with Eriksen tbh, was thinking the exact same thing last time we played City. And was furious when I saw he started vs Arsenal (lowkey could have lost that match because of him as well). He def adds something against sides that will play more on their own half, but I think he lacks the real intensity/grit for the top games + I think Fred has been great this season when he has gotten on (also that Tottenham game). But I could see why EtH would like to have him as a sub to bring extra energy later in the game.

Fair enough, so mostly his defensive abilities. I agree on that. Who would you replace him with?

So McTominay is gone? Fred and Scott are both horrendous to me, hence why I was asking.

I wish Woodward said something stupid about cantona like 10 years ago

  • Jan 11, 2023

Fred has been good since ralf rangnick, but I’d still play erikson against city we need to be able to move the ball through the thirds fast to hit them on the counter and Fred doesn’t do that

we are in a different place this time round, more comfortable on the ball and not afraid, very optimistic and we stand every chance with the form Rashford is in

Maguire is good coverage for Varane/martinez. Also shaw can play lb while malacia covers his lb spot.

    Others yes

I don't know how well Shaw at LCB would work against tough opposition (like I wouldn't want him at LCB vs City bc I think he'd get torn apart) and I'm assuming the only reason we tried that was bc Licha was still not fully fit after the WC.

Dalot is also injured after the Charlton game, right?

Might be worth resting him if he's not 100%

Feel like we’re not going to be fighting enough Saturday after we’ve been playing pretty easy games. Need us to get into that fight mode we had vs Liverpool.

City either binning off this cup or bringing on the big guns at the expense of the derby

So Pep's plan was to gift us a golden opportunity at the league cup if we let them win the derby?
