Meh, it is what it is really. Guys like that need the leapfrog / steppingstone club. They’re obviously extremely talented but the formative years from 18-21 need to be spent 1. Playing consistent first team senior football and 2. Away from exceptional pressure and limelight. Haaland is a bit of a freak of nature and would’ve excelled anywhere he went.

But Caicedo or Bellingham (like most talented kids) needed the moves at a smaller club firsthand. Otherwise you end up with Pellistri’s or Amad’s — two very talented footballers but ever since they’ve signed for the club their development has been halted (as you’d expect) because a club like Manchester United doesn’t have the facilities in the same way to nurture so much young talent at once in addition to the ones already there. All whilst trying to get the club awakened from its slumber. It’s not easy…
