A takeover doesn’t instantly guarantee a big spend. We still have a lot of debt and as of right now we will have to sell to buy owing to FFP restrictions. James Ducker’s article says this would remain the case even if we have new owners.

Expect a £100-120m net spend this summer, imo. I don’t see us going insanely crazy regardless of who is in charge

Qatar/Saudi type comes in as owner. Says they’re gonna invest a Billy into renovating Old Trafford and Carrington. Says they love Cantona and are making a statue of him. Says they have SAF on speed dial, and are leaving the major football decisions to footballing professionals like a DOF. Largely staying out of the way, and respecting the history while revitalizing what needs to be done for the infrastructure. And will still honor the youth first philosophy of the club and not just target superstars as that’s not our ethos.

Would that be acceptable despite them and us being an ‘oil backed’ state club?
