What’s cool about disrespecting the only ones who are gonna take a big hole in their pockets by giving a shot to fund your movie that everyone turned down for over 10y? totally uncalled for, suck your pride dude

He didn't say anything disrespectful about Netflix. What are you reading as disrespectful?

Can’t lie
This scene pretty much took me out of it the rest of the way
Solid movie but calling this his best film is damn near blasphemous all things considered
It's a shame it got stuck in production hell. It almost felt like everyone involved was too old for this movie lmao

On why he worked with Netflix, Scorsese said: "For me it was desperation."

That’s beyond judgemental and the last term you should ever use to associate the ones who made this movie get off the ground with
ayo yall weird bruh

Y’all are taking this a bit out of context. I think he’s just being honest here about the situation. I don’t think he meant any disrespect behind it. He’s simple saying no one wanted to fund the movie until Netflix came along, at which point he was desperate.

That's literally Netflix's whole pitch for their role in the new film industry: Filmmakers who are desperate and can't get funding/distribution through traditional avenues can come to Netflix and get their film made.
Why would Scorsese (or anyone) saying they released a film on Netflix out of desperation be disrespectful, when desperation and limited opportunity in Hollywood are the driving forces behind Netflix's foray into film production?
If you went to a soup kitchen and asked a homeless person why they were eating there, and they said "cause I was desperate," would you scold them for "disrespecting" the soup kitchen?

I would actually. Tell that homeless bum to be grateful. You aren’t there cus you’re desperate, you’re there cus you’re f***ing starving. And this is a place you can eat so be appreciative.
Same goes for Scorsese. It would’ve been just as easy for him to say when no other studio stepped up Netflix came to him with a bag and he’s grateful that someone took that leap of faith and let him do the movie his way.
are ya'll really about to turn every Scorsese interview into a debate? go away, corporate shills.

That's exactly what's he's saying... He was desperate because he couldn't get funding from traditional studios, and Netflix offered him the creative control and theatrical screening he was seeking. Again, this is the exact scenario Netflix is counting on in order to pick up major film titles under their brand. They know he's desperate; that's why they make these offers. (And Netflix did not take a "leap of faith" by any means either. I have no idea where you're getting that.)
And if someone is starving, they're inherently desperate. I have no clue why you separated those two like they're unrelated concepts.

Uhhh “implies” doesn’t good lol that’s like more of an interpretation
I think @FlyMx reply covers it good
You don’t have to make it about Netflix, their scenario doesn’t have much to do with the wording of Scorsese here
It’s just that “For me it was desperation“ sounds negative and that there’s no positive to balance it out in his statement which comes off odd, not that it’s a big deal or serious, we got a good movie out of it either way I really don’t care
(And btw I’ve only seen about two to three MCU movies for anyone who’ll stick to the meme lol)

It has everything to do with Scorsese's wording. "For me it was desperation" isn't disrespectful regardless of how you look at it, because Netflix wants filmmakers to be desperate; that's what makes their production company viable and causes them to viewed as a threat by traditional studios.
