The approach to me felt very much like a fictional spectacle with all the characters acting like they’re in 2025 and big set pieces happening out of nowhere but feel it makes sense for someone trying to become something from nothing
The Safdies formula gives the film strength in certain aspects but also really limits it in the emotional beats it strives for in its final stretch.
Overall it’s a better script than movie
also completely forgot my theatre started playing wicked part 2 instead of marty supreme at the start
intro talking about wizards and s*** and people building the yellow brick road i thought it was a dream sequence or something at first
cameos in this made me think of the most Safdie character to never appear in a safdie film

give the audience what they want

Speaking of cameos here, blast from the past

Tbh realizing the ending is actually a lot more sad than happy does change my perspective on this
I like that it didn't just end with some horribly depressing thing (like death) happening to Marty. Ari Aster ends all his movies that way, and I love him, but I'm glad Safdie switched it up and left some room for ambiguity.

I see it as a happy ending, and then the moment after the happy ending where you're like f\*\*\*... after all this... this is life... and what now?
is this actually good or hype job?
idk if i can buy into the ping pong s*** and chalamet has yet to convince me he’s a great actor by any means
Super good movie. Loved the score aswell. Timmy big one for sure. I do kinda find it funny to me personally it felt like all the supporting actors and background characters was super in tune with the 1950s character setting but it felt like Tyler and Timmy was just being themselves. They still did good tho
idk how i feel ab being able to buy into this
it’s just killin me bc the premises of good time and uncut gems, s*** even heaven is all fascinating and easy to buy into
idk how imma buy into this

You didn't like Forrest Gump I imagine

that’s why I think Marty has the happy tears and then you see him just lose it. I think there’s a big realization that he now loses his ambitions and dreams to become a father
