The difference between how the F4 is treated compared to the X-Men despite them both having powers is a constant point between both teams that creates interesting tension in the comics. Franklin Richards being a mutant complicates this point even further

Removing this by making the F4 mutants takes away a lot of worldbuilding and thematic potential when the two teams cross paths
