Maybe him being not relevant to today’s world is a part of those negative reviews
No the reviews are literally like this movie is dumb. The Martha scene was memed to death lmao
You was in high school during 2020 I’m not doing this with you
And you was at the WB office waiting to hear the pitch for the next cancelled Superman movie
If you weren’t walking before 09/11 I got nothing to discuss with you and I’m so serious
I ain’t letting no nigga who parents took him to see iron man and he got a happy meal before tell me about reality gang
Damn Im Early 20s gang and I feel offended lol.
If you weren’t walking before 09/11 I got nothing to discuss with you and I’m so serious
That was around the same time period that Superman was last culturally relevant
And you was at the WB office waiting to hear the pitch for the next cancelled Superman movie

I was in kindergarten
Nigga wb owns Netherrealm .
That same NetherRealm that developed Injustice? Meaning you personally gain from people thinking Superman is cool?
I’m not hearing your biased takes on this character man
Obviously Superman is still an A-list character, no doubt about that.
All I am saying though is that he’s not as relevant and revered as he used to be, amongst younger audiences specifically.
Niggas under 27 do not give a f*** about Superman I’m sorry
S*** I wrote an essay.
TLDR: The problem isn’t Superman the character, it’s 40 years of poorly received movies
Superman like Batman and Spider-Man is always going to be revered. He is quite literally the first major mainstream superhero. That distinction alone carries a lot of weight. The problem isn’t the character, it’s the movies that have come out with Superman.
Superman hasn’t had a critically well reviewed movie in 20 years. The one that did get good reviews (Returns), is pretty f***ing boring. Meanwhile Smallville, which was airing at the same time the movie came out, was still pretty huge going into its 5th/6th season. Smallville is still remembered fondly. I’ll even bet a Superman movie in 2010 acting as a sequel to Smallville would’ve done pretty well. The problem with Returns besides it being Bron g was that it was quite literally a Christopher Reeve rehash without Christopher Reeve.
Moving to Man of Steel, it ended up making almost double what Superman Returns made. Why? Because it was a new take. As much as I love that film it wasn’t received that well amongst the general audience. Even then when BvS came out, as trashed as that movie was it still almost cracked $900 million. I’ll bet if it was even a solid movie it would’ve cracked a billion easy.
You go from one not well reviewed movie with Superman to another with Justice League. Even the positive reception of Wonder Woman couldn’t save it because at that point people were not going to go see another mid DC movie after they got 3 in a row. (In no way does this reflect my personal feelings because I quite like Man of Steel and BvS Ultimate Edition. Snyder Cut>>>)
The point I’m getting at here is that quality matters. People care about Superman, yes even people under 27. They just want to see a good Superman movie after almost 40 years of bad ones. If Gunns movie is bad it’s not going to do well plain and simple. If it’s good, it’ll do well. This same rule has mostly applied to the MCU.
If a movie is good, it does well. Bad, it does poorly. Not even talking about personal feelings, but more of on a broad spectrum.
Relevant enough to get a new movie tho
His third one in the last 20 years, what amazing relevance

What do I personally gain
we just had layoffs you stupid f***

This isn’t true when the MCU’s only real bomb in 15 years is The Marvels, and that wasn’t the first MCU to be received poorly
