That would be a Sony date. So what most likely happened is Marvel removed their own date from the July 2026 slot to make room for Spidey, so this probably confirms that that movie will release July 2026

I think the thing with Shang Chi is where does his story go from where it left off, in combination with the timing of the release. It left off with the rings blasting a signal out. The only way that works post Doomsday is a story in between his first movie and Doomsday explaining further. Is it possible sure, but I feel like Dr. Strange is a better candidate for that in between explainer job. Preferably to me though would be Strange before Doomsday.

I’m fulfilling what I said I’d write up earlier this week now. This should be my last long and ranting piece on this new MCU business until probably D23 but alas lol. I’m going to layout how I think it should have gone and present an idea that I haven’t sent from anyone else, but one I’ve said multiple times in here for sure (this time a bit more fleshed out),

Beginning in 2017, when Feige finds out that Disney will be buying Fox with a tentative closing date in 2019, I would have immediately set in motion my plans for the next saga. Secret Wars(SW) is the obvious choice to build to a reboot. Knowing the immense scale needed to properly tell the story (and I’d argue that it can be done properly), you sit done with your chosen F4 cast. Tell them they’ll be first out the gate in 2019 with a film and that beyond that there will be a momentous undertaking. F4 would have followed the Family already formed and with Franklin and Valerie. You could have done council of Reeds, or Mole man or both honestly. Main intention is to show Reed’s intelligence, Franklin’s abilities, and at the end his discovery of multiverses and their doom. Next you could do a BP 2(recasted T’Challa) to establish Namor, and at the end the Illuminati. Next major tentpole would be Avengers World. Show the expanded team across the world, get a good conflict for them. During this you could release a couple of TV shows to fill out D+ content.

Now we get into the innovation. The major undertaking you told the F4 cast and everyone else would be to release content packages on a regulated basis. Format: 1hr-1.5 max content “Issues” that build two concurrent stories: New Avengers and Avengers. They would alternate for example. New Avengers release in Feb, Avengers release in late May, New Avengers again in Nov., etc. If needed and it would be needed, you could do a film for a big story moment. Surrounding these “Issues” you do regular shows that could involve major characters from the Issues but would mostly tell more local stories but with obvious influences from the bigger storylines. This would require a massive commitment from the cast and writers and Disney, but like anything with conviction and dedication it could be done. Hickman wrote so well it’s a shame that story couldn’t be told properly to the general audience.
