Honestly after rewatching trilogy I understand this sentiment

I haven’t rewatched 3, but I think I might like it the most overall. There’s a lot emotional weight and it has the best acting

1 and 3 are completely different tones but excel at each of them. 2 is really not as bad as people say, only a bit worse than the first.

Best trilogy in the MCU (also the only mcu films I’ll bother rewatching) and it’s not close

Can’t get mad at anybody who says 3 is the best. My only gripe is that they didn’t use the main guardians theme even ONCE! I waited the entire movie to hear it just one time and it never came. It’s the most memorable theme in the mcu outside the avengers theme

Listen bro, I watched them all back to back over a couple of days last weekend.
Both 1 & 2 are more balanced overall and have way bigger emotional catharsis then 3 imo.

The ending of 2 made me cry on rewatch it’s so good man, rockets arc in 2 is so well done I literally shed a tear at the same time rocket did for the literal last shot of the film, it felt perfect.

Yondus death hits way harder because we see his development and redemption from 1 to 2
Yes it’s sad to see Rickey’s family die but we just met them it doesn’t hit the same as an established character
Even the ending of 1 where groot sacrifices himself and then onto the rest of the guardians also all ready to sacrifice themselves for the power stone is just very emotionally satisfying.

3 has the best villain but honestly it feels like they wasted him, he just folds to rocket because gravity boots I guess, it’s so anti climactic. Ego as a villain is pretty fun, the scene of him reconstructing himself while preaching to peter is pretty amazing.

I still love 3 but it’s just not as even as the other 2
