Destin Daniel Cretton made one of the best films of the past decade with Short Term 12 imo, not much reason to suspect he wasn't delivering a certified heater

the trailers for shang chi were just decent IMO i feel like they were trying to hide most of the movie, which they definitely did, but that also made the movie look decent but not as great as it is

never watched short term 12, thats the movie with all those future stars right

Is the movie actually great or are people just gassing because they were the only ones to see it

Iron Man and Thor the only ones to ever draw blood from Thanos and Tony went toe to toe with him for a bit in Infinity War while Thanos basically had a fully stoned gauntlet. Unless the Mandarin is really on another level it's just hard to imagine

What about Ultron

Ultron felt too goofy at times and was handled with ease in the film.
His impact is felt but as a character he was wasted potential.

He’s got iconic quotes tho and some funny lines that i did enjoy

I remember me and you talking about marvel villains during the WandaVision days so hearing you liked mandarin this much is exciting

Definitely felt like the character lived up to the hype and the best thing i think that the movie does EXTREMELY well is that both the protagonist and antagonist of the film don’t outshine each other, they complement each other and the dynamic of their relationship as father and son is extremely well done.

How was awkwafina? Saw her on a podcast years ago and it made me really like her and root for her. Heard some people saying she did amazing

as someone who finds a majority of what she does cringe and unbearable

When she lands a joke or a emotional moment, she f***ing LANDS really well.

When she doesn’t land a joke, it’s felt a bit but doesn’t linger too long.

My friend did not like her character in the film.

But I think what makes her character work so well is the chemistry and true friendship she has with Shang Chi throughout the film.

I have spoiler thoughts on what makes the dynamic work so well also but i can save that for a later date and or the spoiler thread.

Yeah obviously no spoilers but i enjoyed the first post credits scene a lot. I think it was the first time i liked a certain character as much as i did.
I will say it was the kind of post credits scene that was a little overhyped but yeah it does lead up to some possible wild stories.

The after credits scene is somehow more interesting to me which kinda surprised me given how people hyped up the first one and downplayed this one, I am actually way more interested to see how that all plays out tbh.

I had to really argue with myself on why Mandarin should be placed up above Zemo. And honestly i convinced myself
