They read that quote from Deadline and are going nuts
Like I respect loving this movie seeing it many times and joking or memes about it but begging for Oscars is sad

Like honestly, while it might make my top 10 for the year (out of 44, might catch up on some of the notable films I missed after Christmas) like in no way do I see this getting a best picture nom as much as I loved this movie
All imma say is that if endgame didn’t deserve a best picture nom, then this doesn’t either
yet u love us enough to stay itt
I’m just saying don’t let the image fool you speak your truth if he really seen 40 movies and This bottom 12

But WHY though? People keep saying there’s no way it will get nominated but aren’t explaining why.
People say this is one of their favorite films of the year, but it doesn’t deserve to even be in the conversation for a Best Picture nomination. Why?
People understand that Black Panther and Joker have been nominated for that same award in the past two years, and know that those movies aren’t leagues better than No Way Home, but still think NWH doesn’t even deserve to be in the convo. Why?
I wouldn’t bet money on it getting nominated, nor am I saying with 100% certainty that it will be, but it makes absolutely no sense why some people are acting like it’s a joke for this to even be in the conversation for a nomination.
And saying “Oscars don’t like capeshit” isn’t a valid reason because times are changing and the Black Panther and Joker nominations show that if a comic book movie is well made and well received enough then they’re not totally above noticing it.
And yes, I understand that BP was a moment for diversity and Joker was a deep character study, but the Oscars don’t always nominate something solely because it appeals to their taste, we see dozens of Oscar bait films every year that get no attention from the Academy.
All imma say is that if endgame didn’t deserve a best picture nom, then this doesn’t either
If Black Panther and Joker did, then this does too
No one can sit here and seriously tell me that those two movies are that much better than No Way Home

So what about The Dark Knight?
They didn’t nominate that and of any comic book movie, THAT should have been nominated for best picture
Is this better than The Dark Knight to you?

No, but that should’ve been nominated, and it was definitely in the conversation because people were saying it got snubbed. Also that was 13 years ago, way before comic book movies became such a big part of the cultural zeitgeist, so it’s at least understandable why it was snubbed, it was ahead of its time.
On the flip side, every time someone even mentions NWH and Best Picture in the same sentence people are acting like it’s a blasphemous idea
