    Far From Home isn't great.

It's not a good Spidey film.

I'm still gonna watch it before NWH.

it’s unironically my favorite Spider-Man movie and the fact that it’s not in New York is part of the reason why

    No Uncle Ben.

No Aunt May (Tomei is not the same character in this as Aunt May. She literally does a complete 180 from her paranoid/terrified self in Homecoming too with absolutely no explanation).

No secret identity at the end.

    No financial/job struggles.

    No sacrifices made.

Film constantly pushes for Peter to carve his own way and not be Iron Boy only to literally end with him making a Stark tech suit in a private jet with AC/DC playing.

The good stuff in it come from Mysterio and come from the high school antics that were already present and great in Homecoming.

uncle ben is dead. if they was going to explore that it would have been homecoming. We dont need another spider man movie to cover uncle ben again

also why do we need aunt may to be a big part of the plot? seems like you was want a rendition of the same plot threads we had for two whole movie series

and Peter does make a sacrifice . The whole movie he was fighting with personal desire over responsibilities and moving past the death of a mentor to become the man he needs to be.

If you legit don't understand the importance of the death of Uncle Ben and the importance of Aunt May to the character of Peter Parker, I don't know what to even tell you.

These stories don't have to be rehashed if you do them correctly. You can change aspects of characters without fundamentally changing who they are and their importance in the story.

Y'all enjoy the film (it's not bad at all), but it's not a good Spider-Man film.

Peter Parker is Peter Parker no? uncle bens death is canon in the MCU so why do we need to see it play out again? we can also see the importance of his relationship with aunt may within these two films without it being bashed over our heads.

Is his death canon in the MCU? It literally doesn't play a role in anything going on. Even May completely forgets Ben's death in FFH when she fully accepts with no resistence the idea that her nephew is risking his life at age 16.
And his relationship with Aunt May, in addition to being a good mother (which she doesn't really prove to be one in the two MCU films we have), is that she is old. She was never planning on being a mother and getting a kid dropped on her when she's past middle age creates drama and an interesting relationship.

Peter takes care of her just as much as she takes care of him and that adds to all of the struggles he has as a hero. Nothing personal like that is present in FFH.

spider man comics have so many iterations so it boggles my mind that people think MCU spider man is a betrayal when he still embodies all the themes of spider man. I also still didnt get a reply as to how he didnt make sacrifices in that movie

The themes of Spider-Man are that he's a regular guy who does right by the people around him in spite of his circumstances and every day struggles. That's Stan Lee's vision for him. A hero who has to pay bills and get to class on time.

A 16 year old kid being a member of the Avengers, being given glasses that control KILLER DRONES, and making a Stark tech suit in the back of private jet is not true to the themes of Spider-Man you're referring to.

The struggles he makes in FFH are "can i tell my crush I'm Spidey" and the answer becomes "oh wait she already knows. Cool."

The utter irony of saying Uncle Ben's death is overused, while being totally fine with every iteration of Batman witnessing his parents' death is so idiotic to me. Batman's parents are integral to his development and morals. Ben is that to Peter. And Holland literally has nothing of the sort to explore or talk about in either of his films.

  • Dec 16, 2021

I will say, I'm so thrilled this film seems to actually give Holland s*** to do that's related to the character rather than forcing him to deal with arc's about Iron Man.

the themes of dealing with the common struggles of day to day drama (which is heavily present in both movies, we literally see him do regular s*** and deal with regular problems all throughout the movies.), responsibility, and sacrifice are still very present

Peter has def been incorporated in the avengers in the comics so im not sure how thats a character betrayal and some high tech glasses doesn't erase that by the end of the movie he relied on his own instincts and learned lessons from the same film to beat Mysterio.
