I just feel like certain established characters you just can't change too much otherwise it'll just feel like a completely different character. A black cyclops just wouldn't feel like Cyclops anymore. It'd feel like a different character

I'd rather see the diversity of the mutant world be elevated if anything.

I'm talking the characters not the actors and even if we were Chris never became that guy either career wise.

Captain America has never really become a popular character in the mainstream outside of the films and Chris still isn't really a star outside of any Marvel films I actually don't think he's ever dropped a hit movie outside of Captain America where he was the lead.

I'd agree if this was about casting non white actors in general but when it comes to previously established characters I think it's largely a failure especially where they're popular.

It's better to advocate for more actually non white characters to be made or adapted than arguing for one version of a white character getting to be the token non white person for a few years in the movies.

A one off non white cyclops is needed less than actual black Mutants who if they become popular would make a permanent space for non white actors imo.

Reminds me of everyone complaining Heathcliff wasn't non white in the new Wuthering Heights and all I could think was what the optics would be of a black man terrorizing them white people

Every new adaptation of a property is just that, a new adaptation. Shouldn’t modern adaptations reflect modern times? It’s fiction after all. If the character’s race has to do with their identity then I’d understand but it seems people don’t have a problem or get over it when it’s a lesser character like Perry White or Gordon or Moneypenny being race swapped but when it’s Superman, Batman, or James Bond they lose their minds

And tbh someone just has to be the first one to bite the bullet and race swap cause then in the future people will be like “well theyve been a different race before so it’s ok” like the recent Two Face discourse or Perry White is now very much accepted as black
