Nah I'm not even s***ting on Mariah, but I'm talking timeless songs
Mariah got more timeless r&b songs that beat Mary's ?
What would be your Mariah line up?
Aite you might got me there.
Mary J got a lot of timeless hits
What is Mariah gonna use to beat Mary except All I Want For Christmas, We Belong Together, and Always Be My Baby ?
Mariah got like 20 #1’s
Every song she play could be a #1 hit
the issue with Mariah vs Mary is that Mariah did so much pop for her first 4 or 5 albums and that's not gonna resonate with the verzuz audience like Mary's songs will. I know I said Janet will crush her and she did a lot of pop too, but the Jacksons are different lol
exactly. Like growing up in the black community I already know that there are numerous Mary J tracks that are so timeless

we talking timeless r&b tracks though. A song going #1 doesn't automatically make it timeless

Some artists' #1s mean a lot tho and Mariah just so happens to be one of them. Pre 2020 a #1 song at the very least meant it was insanely popular. Songs that got stuck at #2 or #5 often got as much play and critical acclaim as the #1s. It just shows how dominant Mariah is as a selling force

That's a good point. But if you play both Mariah and Mary J at a function, im thinkin Mary J is gonna get the better reaction
No disrespect to Mariah though

True. I think black people resonate with Mary's music more than Mariah
Be Happy is ringing off more with the Verzuz audience than a lot of Mariah’s number ones

Mariah pop not even really “pop”. Daydream deadass a r&b album to me.
I feel y’all really underestimating Mariah.

You even linked to the original version and not the ODB remix. Most of her ‘pop’ hits had actual r&b remixes.
Thank God I Found You Feat. Nas
Heartbreaker Feat. Da Brat & Missy
We Belong Together Feat. Jadakiss
Etc
