I really appreciate 1 for its inventiveness and its rapid-fire pacing, but I prefer how Reloaded slows down and really explores the world and characters in a way the first movie never really bothered with.

Also there's a scene where Morpheus is kung fu fighting a ghost in a car while Trinity is driving the car while another ghost is shooting at them

Its hilarious that after he says the words "back to the matrix"

everything that kicks off after is absolutely insane and does all of what the pitch meeting said it would

yea I could see this. Cuz like in Matrix 1 half the cast gets smoked and it's really down to a few essentials.

Reloaded adds on a lot

Like I didnt know people thought Matrix 1 was the only good one until I went on the internet because I remember being at summer camp as a kid when Matrix released and all the counselors and most adults loved reloaded when it dropped even if it was heady but were so disapointed in revolutions

again pre internet age people more reviewed and thought by their self besides like people cosigning ebert

Most importantly I really felt like the Neo x Trinity romance comes alive in Reloaded in a way that felt forced in the first film. I didn't really understand what about Neo made Trinity fall for him so completely, and so immediately, but in the sequels I absolutely bought that for whatever reason, it was real.

yeah s*** didn't work at all for me, but in the next 2 movies I really believed in and rooted for them

i feel like 1 is the body and the aesthetics but 2 is what fills out the soul in a way. the deeper themes of love overcoming everything become way more explicit the action is so much more interesting and the speeches are mesmerizing
