a CINEMA would be inappropriate here given the subject matter…. we must stay vigilant and sensitive to improper context!

That’s a fact, but at least it’s not glorifying it or making light of it

Don’t think it was intentional but that last scene with Natalie Portman has a whole new layer to it when you remember her role in The Professional

I liked this one but I was confused about some things like Portman’s character having s\*\*\*with Joe? Was she just that deep into character or was it part of her research to see how he’d react? We saw at the end that she kinda turning into her. Second thing, Julianne Moore’s son made up the story about her brothers abusing her and when she tells Portman this she was shook, why? Was it at that moment she realized how much Moore character was in charge of the whole thing and not as naive as she says?

the brother lying about the brothers felt like the most realistic thing to happen tbh, it’s clear Elizabeth’s presence has become an inside joke for many members in the family, especially the ones not directly affected in the tragedy, and it’s been made clear that Georgie is a sardonic f\*\*\*, even the way he asked for the music supervisor job looked so dumb and like he was putting it up

I was more just confused about the level of her shock. The way it played out had me thinking I missed a big reveal like she didn’t consider the possibility that he could be lying

i gotta sit on that ending for a little

melton was just heartbreaking in this. perfectly towed the line of the melodrama this was trying to capture but also really understood how tragic it all was

Portman is The most overrated actress of all time. Black swan is great though. Todd Haynes. And Julianne Moore is Kobe/ Shaq

Which monologue lol you mean the s\*\*\*one at the school? You don’t find it amusing that notoriously the biggest prude star in Hollywood was saying that :deadfast:

Forgot Todd Haynes did one of my favorite films with Julianne Moore … Safe

No the one where she recites Gracie's letter to Joe

  • Dec 3, 2023

She did all this for a TV movie?

  • Mac Wit Da Cheese

The true story this is loosely based on is even more f***ed up. She was his teacher and first met him when she has him in her 2nd grade class. Then began initiating a relationship when she had him again in 6th grade

Went to jail pregnant with his kid (kid was born in prison). Got out, immediately broke the mandated restraining order, and got pregnant again

That s*** is still crazy to me. They made her act like she was the victim and s*** too.

“Who was in charge” man WHAT

It’s so crazy that this scene was based off a real interaction between them:

The whole story is so damn sad man

EDIT: just saw that you already posted ITT

Movie was great but Charles Melton stole every scene he was in. Absolutely ridiculous performance, so heartbreaking
