Bruh I felt the same way cause this man Ye has said the most horrendous s*** in the last decade and this album is still held highly critically and amongst common music listeners. Doesn’t mean publications want to spotlight it but when classics are brought up this is still mentioned

The point of the thread is that it gets brought by default when mosy ppl have issues with it. It's getting brought up on the basis that largely critics and publications propped it up after release

Do you feel the discussion around the album reflects this?

No. When the album first dropped, it definitely was looked at as a perfect Kanye west album but I have never agreed with this.

Now I would agree that it’s a masterpiece although I don’t think masterpieces have to be perfect.

Glad they used their effort and degrees to make the cheapest looking choice possible. The bordering and background makes it look like an obvious undercooked attempt to being thought of as high art. The painting by itself would have far more presence and strength

    Whatever you say man

It can be great great and influential while still having garbage on it and not being perfect this is not that hard to understand.

its actually very easy to understand. its like if I say the 72-10 bulls team is a great all time team very influential but they lost 10 games so they were not a perfect 82-0. and went on a rant calling people “literally John Starks”. good job man. what a great a***ysis!

I can understand that you look fondly back on the days when this album came out and you were cool, but those days are long gone and its time to admit that MBDTF has a solid amount of garbage on it. 10/10 is a lie

This is not garbage that I'm neatly picking out or fabricating but garbage we all agree on yet seem to ignore when it comes to assessing this album's quality. Why?

Let's be real, most of the people here are not really into rap music that came out before the year 2010. You are all early 2010s fantano and pitchfork babies that are so repulsed by this reality that you have turned your entire sense of self on being a person that hates that current music crowd but share 80-100% of their opinions. The 20% difference is reserved for the brockhampton hate, which is hilarious because you literally are brockhampton

    TLDR: you are a b****

Now lets get on to the most obvious garbage on this album.

    All of the Lights

The fergie verse is ass. We all know this. no perfect masterpiece has this horseshit on it.

    Monster

This song is by and large garbage. The Jay-Z verse on here is horrible. We all know this. The Kanye p**** in a sarcophagus line belongs in a awful hopsin, tech n9ne or a modern eminem verse.

    So Appalled

RZA is arguably one of the greatest rap producers of all time but decided to lose some chromosomes for the outro of this s***.

    Blame Game

John Legend is a disease and the outro skit on here can't be relistened to. Obvious imperfection.

Also let's talk about the album cover. I'm tired of hearing this s*** be referenced as high art or something when it has the cheapest red paint backdrop texture and the gold border looks like it was made in powerpoint. They had the money to do this s*** for real.

MBDTF is a great album which had a good amount of influence on major rap releases of the mid 2010s but it's time we stop calling it perfect when we none of us really believe that.

For those of you that are gonna complain about reading all this its not my fault the youtube algorithm and p*** have destroyed your attention span. Let's keep this chat positive.
