Not really.
He got clowned because his debut album was basically an amalgamation of other rappers styles.
It wasn’t until 2018 where I thought he really found his rapping lane with Love Me now then had a great project in TNT3 the same year the meg incident came out
Granted some people consider Cruel Intentions to be his best r&b work but I think its a toss up between chixtape 5 and Alone at prom

I think he just gets talked about more. Like Babyface Ray and Rio da young og are probably two of my favorite rappers out right now but not much to talk about since they are pretty Lowkey outside of dropping music (And well, one being in jail)
I do think he got a boost from the shooting incident but that was likely from how he carried himself and how people were starting to poke holes in megs story
