What’s the criteria for “new”? I feel like when niggas talk about “new” artists in a positive or negative way, they only bring up one type of artist. Griselda will have staying power. Saba will. Smino will. Kevin Abstract will. It’s mad niggas that are relatively new with real talent and skill and intention that will be in the game for decades or as long as they choose to stay here because they make music that sticks and they have fans invested in them. There’s a lot of microwave music but that’s not the new generation to me, it’s a wave passing through. You gotta last more than a year to be apart of the conversation.
