    The tweet/video for initial context:

Prefacing strongly that under no circumstances are what happened ok at all and dude should be buried under a jail cell for this

But to the point, I’ve seen a lot of strong conversations on both sides regarding men and whether it’s our duty, obligation, etc to intervene with domestic situations between a man and a woman who you do not know. I have to say this is a tough pill to swallow because anyone who was raised right would know that the urge to try to get involved and protect a woman in need would kick in, but also knowing how absolutely crazy men can be you’re inserting yourself into a situation that could potentially be threatening to not only her but now yourself.

I guess the question I’m trying to have answered is how do you feel about situations like this, and do you feel that the answer is somewhere in the middle, or do you feel strongly about intervening or not intervening?

  • Sep 4, 2023

I’m going to go as far as to say that I’m not even sure intervening between any type of domestic situation (men, women, both) is absolutely sketch these days and I’d be extremely cautious to interject myself into a situation that does not involve me or someone I’m with

  • Damn this is f***ed up op nigga can't even take rejection tf. This is so sad man and coming from a country that has high rates of gender based violence against women (south africa) it hurts coz as you said you the need to protect them is there but you dont want it risk your own life as well coz dudes be f***ed in the head. I know kids that be in a situation where their dads are just beating on their moms and feel so powerless. It's just heartbreaking. F*** this s*** man.

I would have to access the situation. Or we both could be looking like Martin when he fought Tommy Hearns.

Sounds like it was several dudes that ignored one dude hitting her with the brick so they’re all losers

  • Villainous B

Why didn't she, like, run away?

Idk probably because she didnt actually expect a psycho to throw a brick at her

Bottom line regardless of the discourse in here there is absolutely no way this type of behavior should exist in society

This tweet is important to look at, mostly because of the last line.

There's a lot of bitterness to it, and I think that basically sums up the current situation. Our society has an increasingly large portion of men who feel wrong/alienated by the mainstream of society in some way, and thus don't want to stick their necks out for the "in group".

I'm not sure if it's right or wrong in the sense that trying to save a stranger has definitely gotten plenty of people killed. But the issue here isn't necessarily men calculating the risk to their livelihoods (although I'm sure that's a factor) as much as it is a reflection of a very angry and atomized society

Just scroll through the guy's timeline and you'll get a much better sense of where a lot of this discourse (on the male side) is coming from lol

I can get on board with this. It doesn’t even need to be to this level of escalation. A lot of stories I hear from my grandparents really indicate to me that even though society was far from perfect (especially being black in that time period) that folks were seemingly a lot more trustworthy and there was more of an emphasis on community and helping one another out in need even as strangers. These days I trust absolutely nobody regardless of situation and rarely go out of my way to help others just because it only takes a moment to let your guard down for someone to take advantage of you

Yeah, I think you're exactly right. It's a society that is generally less trusting, and people are less confident that their kindness is going to be reciprocated.

I was also trying to get at the fact that a lot of this discourse isn't really in good faith, in the sense that a lot of it is stemming from "loser culture" or whatever you want to call it.

I'm not really sure what to make of that. Does that invalidate the legitimate argument for not wanting to put your life on the line for a stranger? Probably not. But I think there is a larger problem here where men are looking to get back at women for some perceived wrongdoing, and they see the whole "you're own your own" attitude as a way of doing that.

It’s sad and that line of thought probably is what ironically and unfortunately led to the original situation in the first place. Men are ill equipped to deal with rejection and this is far from a new issue

  • Oh god it was only a matter of time before this made it on here

Anything involving men and men when it comes to "pussy" means someone getting shot unfortunately

    Not surprised

I dont think most men would intervene unless they outnumber or know somewhat of the guy commiting the act

But at the least you can do is call the cops if its beyond an argument and insults

F*** thay snitch s*** girl got assualted with a brick bro
