    He gave employees one day (the rest of their fired day) to keep their email accounts so they could say bye to coworkers. Their work accounts were immediately disabled.

    Kinda makes sense from a security stand point tbh, lot of these people are probably salty ASL, and they're computer scientists, and Facebook is a big tech company so...

    Still, didn't imagine Meta would be this monumental of a failure. I honestly thought he wasn't gonna release it for another couple of years, I thought all this current Metaverse s*** was just beta testing or a preview or something?

    Not just due to the metaverse, it's due to economy + overhiring during covid - lots of other companies are doing layoffs too

    The way I think of it,

    he allocated a lot of company money for this project,

    expected at least some kind of return by this point,

    didn't see any sign of it,

    was like f*** I can't afford to keep all these people now, gonna have to take drastic measures to be able to keep the company going seamlessly.
