Finished MGS 1 the other day and I gotta say, it's below mid

I couldn't get over the controls and general ps1 stuff, even though I've had good experiences with other ps1 games like FF9. It's probably unfair to compare it to Half-Life which released in the same year but it's night and day. HL holds up really well still imo

The cinematic story telling on a ps1 was still cool. I also liked the 4th wall breaking stuff. The core of the game is good, it just shows its age in the worst ways unfortunately. A 1:1 script remake would go crazy

Twin snakes is f***ing awesome lmao, i watched the whole thing on YouTube and I like it way better. The cutscenes look more like mgs2 and 3 so it just works better

Some mgs purists don’t like it because most of the cutscene cinematography is changed but I don’t remember there being any other major differences. It plays like mgs2 so it’s a lot easier too get into, honestly it’s an easier game overall with how you can cheese some sections. I’d recommend it

also twin snakes is such a good title for the first game

it f***s with the tone and makes some of the boss fights wayyyyyy easier. totally playable and kind of fun, but plopping the mgs 2 controls without changing any of the mgs1 level design wasnt thought through

mgs 3 is def most playable now

Just got to the boss last night in snake eater. I'm so used to modern games I turned it off last night but don't think I saved after that annoying ass trek through the woods with Eva injured begging for food every 2 seconds ass

Unless there is some auto save I'm screwed and gotta do that over.

But anyway Jesus I forgot just how damn epic snake eater is. This game like all the mgs except 5, all feel like real adventures man. Miss games like that.

Was playing mgs2 on my switch and got a bug where it started playing at 60fps

Sad because it was running fine so they totally could’ve done 60fps but were just lazy

The bug has something to do with the cutscenes for opening the lockers, I think it’s because weirdly the game jumps from 30 to 60 just for the little animation of opening or closing a locker, I got game over in the vr missions while opening the locker and that’s what triggered the bug

I doubt it would run at a locked 60 the whole way through both games, but it’s still crazy to tease you with it like that.

I haver zero faith in modern day Konami doing a MGS3 remake justice
