Nigga you don’t know s*** about rap
Giving metro boomin the credit niggas like lex luger deserve

Give me 5 producers making Lex Luger type beats right now who are going Gold or higher lol

And Lex's sound was an evolution of Drumma Boy's sound. Everything comes from something. This isn't the "gotcha" moment you think it is

That is unrelated to the fact that Metro is the most influential hip hop artist of the 2010s

without Metro, Future would be nothing after Honest

I don't know if I'd flat-out say nothing, but he would not be where he is without Metro

That's just a fact, Metro brought the best out of Future

Wonder what about drake pissed off metro initially. If he actually liked him as an artist or collaborator he prob wouldn’t care her loss did better sales-wise

Probably Drake's pivot into trap music

hindsight is 20/20 it’s easy to get angry at that statement 9 years after the fact

but the facts are without Monster immediately to follow and DS2/WATTBA that summer he would’ve been left in the dust

you just make up hypotheticals without considering another hypothetical that would have happened during that time period lol

Lex's sound was an evolution of D Rich/Shawty Redd not Drumma Boy. TM101 was what started that sound. Lex propelled it into the widespread mainstream. Everybody was biting him (including Metro) and wanted a lex beat. Only reason he ain't as big as Metro is cause he struggled with lean addiction and fell off. Southside, lex, and TM88 (808 mafia) was still going the same time Metro really blew up

Future would have survived with or without Metro but if y'all don't think Metro's role in Monster, DS2, and "Low Life" didn't set this man over the edge commercially, and edge he would have probably never crossed without Metro's input, y'all are crazy

Metro gave Future his signature sound. Future had his own style way before Metro, but all the pieces came together on 10/28/2014

  • Dec 18, 2023

Future is Future with or without Metro. idc about numbers.

In any case however, the dark, psychedelic, hypnotic sound Metro brought to the table shifted the entire soundscape of mainstream hip hop from 2015 onward. Yeah he himself learned that sound from DJ Paul & Juicy J, and SpaceGhostPurrp, but he brought that style into trap music, which counts for a lot

And if y'all trace back early beats for nearly any producer, they sound like they're imitating something/someone lol

That's just how it begins most of the time. Very rare for anyone to have their own style right out of the gate.

"Look in my eyes. U guys wanna do something???"

In fairness to Drake that was very obviously a joke and anyone trying to s*** on him for pretending to be a "tough guy" with that has no sense of humor

  • Dec 18, 2023

The Drake and Metro beef itself is fine

But y'all gonna slander Metro because of this? Dude's albums are just Calvin Harris ripoffs? He's not that good/popular/influential of a producer? The facts just don't support this lol

Yeah for sure. Metro is definitely Metro and did a lot for trap music im not taking that away from him. But I will say that a big part of what made Metro so big was his tag. Such is the case with a lot of producers but with Metro it was different. Probably cause of Future's success

56 Nights, Monster, Beast Mode, WATTBA, and DS2 all dropping within the span of a year is what elevated Future commercially btw.

So please don’t discredit that man’s work.

The amount of people Metro is chiefly responsible for helping to launch their careers is insane. Right off the bat Future, Travis Scott, Young Thug, 21 Savage, and Migos all came into their own as artists thanks to Metro Boomin. It's not even close lol

Yeah I actually liked it tbh but niggas act like it's God's gift to humanity because it felt like a drought of decent albums last year. I wouldn't even rank it above something like Shock Value 1 or 2. It's barely Metro's best work, Savage Mode II literally came out 3 years ago

no one does that at all

And who produced the bulk of Monster, WATTBA, and DS2, the three most acclaimed and popular projects in this lineup
