The mixtapes are 80s influenced so no they haven’t

Doesn't prove much. Could still be the case that Drake streams are more concentrated in the west while Abels are more spread out. Drake is the top streamed artist in the biggest music market (U.S), so he gonna have a high position regardless.
Because it’s more often than not that people grow up and prefer the music they discovered during their adolescence. Most people who discovered Abel through Trilogy were in their teens / early 20s. Not hard to connect those dots.
Ehh, i’ve seen a lot of new weeknd fans discover trilogy and say it has some of his best work on as well. I don’t think it’s just that
The blatant ignoring of After Hours’s influence is crazy
Like this ain’t a 1:1 copy of BL
Ye, and it was said to be thanks not a shot. Weeknd and Drake literally could’ve not have interacted back then and TC and HOB would be just as good music wise. They both benefited by the publicity of sharing each other’s credits
I won't say TC wouldn't be as good as it was if it didn't have those Abel references, but they weren't complete songs. I think HOB was gonna be it no matter what

It really feels like every pop artists’s lead single post-BL has just been a Blinding Lights rip
Name "everybody".
And don't mention Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia album because Abel didn't influence s*** about that album.
Don't Start Now was the lead single off that album and it dropped in October 2019, before Abel dropped anything off After Hours and her album dropped a week after After Hours.

We already acknowledged it was BOTH Abel and Dua who led the wave of that style being revived
Are you delusional?
Imagine denying the obvious and overt 80s revival from 2020-now that started after Abel and Dua dropped those singles at the end of 2019
Bruno mars was doin this sound for a min and his s*** was all over the radio

Bruno Mars has never done an 80s sound man

He was not doing 80s synth-pop
Blinding Lights, the biggest song of all time, didn’t influence anything. Meanwhile, Drake invented music.
