There’s no objective way to compare the success of a song of the streaming era to a song pre streaming

Because we can’t objectively equate streams to sales and all the other formats of past eras. Oops I Did It Again or I Want It That away were much bigger than anything of the last few years because there was still monoculture. Nothing will ever be that big again, it’s kind of nearly a fact if you follow the conversation on how the internet has splintered culture
