We’ve waited 18 years for Samus riding a motorcycle in a Pokémon-esque open world
There are still enclosed areas with classic metroid prime level design, this same trailer shows them, with art direction and level of detail eclipsing most nintendo releases so far let alone pokemon, why are we doing this

This Is the same game btw
god this looks amazing
less than 3 months from a lifelong dream realized
ngl after thinking about it samus having a bike is kinda silly when she could literally run at like mach 5 speed and has a ship lmfao
f*** it tho

yea but technically uses suit energy. she can't "realistically" traverse these large deserts of nothing!

Tbf samus would look goofy as hell running around the desert like sonic, and the ship probably didnt get transported to viewros with samus or was broken in the process, there are some ruins of galactic federation structures and ships in some maps so her ship might have suffered the same faith
Metroid of the wild incoming.
They should get monolithsoft to help design huge landscapes.

It’s not gonna be like breath of the wild, that wouldn’t work with Metroid gameplay. Metroid games have gated progression so open world would clash with that. Unless they’re not making this a metroidvania which would be absolutely ridiculous, I really hope that’s not the case. I’m assuming some of the levels just have a more open-level design, the desert being one.
Holy Crap you people waited 20 years for this?!
technically 8 years if you wanna count from when nintendo officially announced it was a thing but yes

i think its possible to present it in a cool way tbh just shift it into third person view and add some speed effect
but we also dont really know the scale of those sections or if her ship is messed up so w/e

Lowkey feels wrong that they’re about to release this bad boy (art book covering the Prime trilogy) while 2 entries are still nowhere to be found on modern consoles
At the very least they should add Prime 2 to the GameCube NSO lineup.

I actually think they should drop prime 3 first so people got some (very limited tbf) context for who sylux is lmao, but its too late i feel

I’ve been saying that Metroid Prime Hunters deserves a remake because
1. Sylux’s first appearance was from that game
2. an online FPS is missing in Nintendo’s current catalog (sure they don’t HAVE TO tick that box, but it sure would be nice to have one since that genre isn’t as prominent on Nintendo platforms with COD still being MIA and all)
Also I’ve been saying that Prime 4 should’ve had an online-multiplayer mode cus I want the Metroid series to break into the mainstream like the other major Nintendo IPs.. Obviously it ain’t easy for a single studio to develop single-player AND multiplayer components; that’s why you bring in another studio (NST maybe???).

About hunters, would be cool as a free nso title like f zero 99 or tetris 99 otherwise i feel nobody would pay the price nintendo would put it at (and even then im not sure id play It ngl lol).
For the second part, i feel like just adding a multiplayer mode on mp4 wont fix its issues with reaching the mainstream. Metroid prime 2 had multiplayer but it sold less than half of mp1 on the gamecube.
I just think metroid prime as a series isnt mass appealing in general - too slow, puzzle/exploration oriented and meditative/immersive as an experience for a FPS game. People are used to high intensity action with these games, or an optional 3rd person perspective. I think if they want Metroid to make it big, they'll have to go another route with the next game, maybe get rid of the "metroid prime" series altogether and go with something new.
Japanese box art confirms time travel, i wonder if there's a gameplay mechanic connected to it or if its just story related

Making Hunters available on NSO is actually a great idea
at least the multiplayer portion of it—though who would pay for the single-player campaign only when it was nothing to write home about lol
Perhaps they should spruce the package up a bit by adding an entirely-new side campaign for a playable Sylux storyline (think of something like Bowser’s Fury being added to Mario 3D World).
It could reveal why Sylux harbours a lot of hatred towards the Galactic Federation and Samus.
Prime 2’s multiplayer couldn’t take off cus it was local-only
All the spotlight was on Halo at the time so going head-to-head with that behemoth would’ve been an uphill battle anyway (PlayStation tried with Killzone).
It certainly didn’t help Prime 2’s case that the single-player campaign was a step below its predecessor.
As for Metroid becoming mainstream, yeah I agree that they should move away from the Prime subseries and try a new gameplay perspective for 3D Metroid & replicate Samus’s quick mobility in the 2D games (e.g. over-the-shoulder 3rd-person view for shooting but full body when her fast & agile movement is in play).
Maybe “mainstream” wasn’t the right word. It’s not like suddenly COD bros will check Metroid out even if it had a fantastic multiplayer mode lmao
Sales-wise, the Metroid series tends to hit a limit early on (it’s not an evergreen like BOTW) so I thought an online mode could help it sell for longer periods.
Idk if you’ve played Hunters back in the day, they managed to pull off a strong first attempt at online Metroid for a smaller development studio working on underpowered hardware. Would’ve liked to see them going further with it and have another online Nintendo shooter besides just Splatoon
man they do not give a f*** about this series lmao
I'm very mixed. I just have to play it.
Watching the trailer on a 4K screen and the game doesn't look too bad graphically.
Except the outside portion looks ...
We'll see! This game has had a rough dev time.
