This is the generation to be inspired by Drake, the same way Thug's generation would be inspired by Wayne, and Roddy's inspired by Thug. There's not a whole lot innovation going on in rap right now so it's not surprising that newish rappers are directly showing their influence.
Has it not always been like that though one could argue Wayne was a prodigy of originality but his style was derived from more than just a singular artist and part of his sound to an extent came from Birdman.

I feel like there are 3 definitions to be honest:
- Freestyle
Premeditated material that wasn't written specifically for this beat or occasion, might pop up somewhere else.
- Off the dome freestyle
Impromptu stream of conscious raps
- "Off the dome" freestyle
Spontaneously pulling from a bunch of premeditated stuff organically and kind of fitting it together in real time.
And the third is apparently how a lot of people are making songs these days. Most people can't tell the difference anyway.
