The only “bad” game from Tua this season was against Pittsburgh (which we could probably blame it on rust)
Even so in that game he had 270 yards and a TD.
the fact that that’s his worst game shows you how good a season he’s having
Only concern we should have for Tua is durability. But at this point there’s no denying he’s plenty good enough to be a franchise QB when he’s healthy
Tua has two question marks imo: his consistency and his durability
it’s fair to question whether he can be on the field considering the myriad of injuries he’s had over his career dating back to Bama
he also has some consistency issues. ravens and lions games he looked unstoppable, against the steelers he looked like an average QB. but it’s clear the talent is there. it’s about putting it all together. and that happens by staying on the field

Consistency is fair to question, though I think that’s more because of rust than anything else. If he keeps this up rest of season then he’s an elite QB and then it’s really time to start discussing where he ranks in that 2020 class

legit the only QBs that have been better than him this season are Mahomes and Allen and maybe Hurts. that’s it. he’s top 3-4 this season

He’d probably be 2nd in MVP odds right now if that concussion never happened
If he finally learns how to slide and just get rid of the ball instead of extending the play when nothings there, that would really do wonders for his longevity. It’s been a huge problem I’ve had with him since Bama though so we’ll see if he’s gotten it by now
Tua leads the league in QB rating, ESPN QBR, and PFF QB grade.
i used to pray for times like this
can we get a new op for this thread? seems like it should be me or ovocrew
Eh doesn’t really matter. Not many dolphins fans on this site anyway lol
if Tua stayed healthy we woulda made it this year
Probably would’ve beaten Buffalo, idk how our defense would’ve performed at KC though lol
But next year we can finally expect to at least get to the conference championship. No more excuses
Salary counts against the salary cap the year it's paid.
Signing Bonuses are paid as a lump sum, but their cap hit is divided evenly across the length of the deal, with a maximum of five years.
If a player leaves the team for almost any reason, all signing bonus money that's still "counting" against future years accelerates to the team's cap that year.
If a player has any guaranteed salary in future years, it "accelerates" if he's cut, but travels to the new team if he's traded.
Cumulatively, points 3 and 4 are what people are talking about when they mention "Dead Money"--the amount of money that counts towards a teams cap for players who are no longer on their rosters.
Incentives are probably the most complicated part: they're categorized as either "Likely To Be Earned" or "Not Likely To Be Earned," based on whether the player would have earned them in the previous season. If they're Likely, they count against that season's cap.
If they're Not Likely, they don't. If the player fails to earn a "Likely To Be Earned" incentive, the team gets a credit the following year; if he does earn a "Not Likely To Be Earned" the team gets charged for it the next year.
So if Tom Brady had a "Win the Super Bowl" incentive in his 2021 year, it would have been considered "Likely To Be Earned," and it would have counted against Tampa Bay's cap. They would then get a credit for that amount in 2022, because he didn't meet that incentive
