Just got done listening and it makes perfect sense as to why this was his breakout solo release. Of course it's a disco record but like all of his releases it feels like Jackson is able to transcend the genre with his own signature style. There's still a bit of childhood influence from his Jackson 5 days (Girlfriend in particular) but it gives the record charm instead of holding it back.

The Bryan Loren tracks need to be included in any Dangerous conversation imo. Serious Effect 100% should've made the album. Teddy's Joy should've made Dangerous as well. I fully agree about Earth Song though. Heal the World is the one skip on there for me.

The fact it follows Can't Let Her Get Away (which I have as a top 5 MJ song period) is complete malpractice. It completely ruins the flow of the album. Lol

Honestly don't know what to sat about his that hasn't already been said. By evolving his disco/funk sound into a style that could only be his, Thriller sounds both like something you've never heard before and a wave of nostalgia. I feel like at this point MJ had fully matured his craft but like always the childlike wonder that radiates him makes everything better. quite literally perfect.
