ArujiDylan's catalogue has a wider stylistic variety than MJ's. I'd really urge all of you to give his albums a listen because I feel most of the people itt didn't even listen to more than one or two Dylan albums.

Stevie and Brian were making heavily orchestrated music but that's also the (rather conservative) notion of what good arrangement means. Dylan's music had other goals than this type of music. Stevie and Brian were coming from a different tradition.
yes drone is definetely music. the art of it is picking the right notes, the length of the notes, the texture. this is all still very much making musical choices.
jazz is quite literally the highest level of musicanship (that doesnt make it the most enjoyable necessarily but one of my fave genres)
Techno and new music too as long as you are actually making the music in some capacity and not copy and pasting the entire song into existence.
Bob Dylan is almost only ever cited for anything other than his lyrics and it's not like the lyrics are particularly rhythmic in delivery.
Theres really not much arranging either tbh. it's very conventional for the genre until he went electric which was pretty conventionally electric.
the actual music is just not the highlight for bob's career it's the writing. he's by and large in a different profession to say john coltrane. Although someone like brian wilson also makes very different music than coltrane he is still making the music. bob doesn't do that. that's not to say that he sucks but it's not like he's refrenced in any musical education, he's more likely to be brought up in a writing class
