A bunch of Bob Dylan fans who gas up his run in the 60s + Blood On The Tracks were talking reckless about the king and got put in their place.

I just don't see bob not being a musician or him sounding samey being a thing that makes sense.
I do like a few MJ songs but I generally think he's vastly overrated while I think that Dylan's musicality is extremely underrated and he is pinned to his very early days when he was mostly his acoustic guitar and his harmonica. Sure, he's a household name that everyone knows but what I like most about him is his music and he went far beyond that. The droney song structures of his translated into the "electric" arrangements which created a new style of music.
Even though the lyrics are definitely outstanding.
MJ was a great singer and performer. I don't think he's trash or anything. Man In the Mirror, Black Or White, Thriller, Billie Jean and They Don't Care About Us are tracks I listen to on at least a monthly basis.
tbf MJ and Prince would be a much better toss up in terms of style but I'd be firmly in the Prince camp.
Back in my day I went to see Bobby play at the station for a nickel. We called nickels a fivearino back then. Good times we used to have in this country. Good times I want to go back to.

MJ Vz Prince VZ coming May 4th
Dylan's catalogue has a wider stylistic variety than MJ's. I'd really urge all of you to give his albums a listen because I feel most of the people itt didn't even listen to more than one or two Dylan albums.

Think MJ taking it tbh if we get a full audience

whew a real music discusser instead of someone memeing...

I think so too but I also think Prince is gonna win 5-6 rounds and get closer to MJ then people anticipate.
He WASHED Stevie and Stevie amazing.

Yeah I’m not really taking away from Bob’s greatness, i wouldn’t agree with some of the slander on his name itt
And I do think he has more classic albums for his base, and was a prolific songwriter in his prime
I just strongly dislike when people act like if you don’t rank a white artist who honestly NOBODY in our culture listens to like that or grew up on his s*** prolly got into it later, over MJ people act like ur being ignorant or have a lesser opinion than them.
MJ was a great vocalist, performer, song writer, hands on producer etc and has several absolutely classic albums under his belt. If you like Bob Dylan more thats cool everybody got they own taste but just being pretentious like it’s obvious that dylan is better or that black people have even close to the same reverence for him is just annoying imo and led to this thread
No disrespect to Dylan’s artistry or influence itself
This is like when the Macho Man and Hulk Hogan accounts would come in threads and fight, true art
breaking form is a decision that is reflective of form's existence. it's just a tool like anything. i'm only going to send you something if you speak like you don't know about it. these are musical choices. bob dylan doesn't make any real distinctive musical choices. if your music teachers brought up bob dylan as a composer then lol
what's your degree in specifically
classical trombone performance
i just dont understand what u mean when bob dylan very clearly is able to construct rhythm and harmony in his music and has plenty of songs that follow a certain form or not. like i thought u were just trolling at first but now im confused u have a weird view on what music is and isnt
