Oh that's cool it seemed like you didn't like him because of some of your posts
I don’t like the culture around his fanbase nothing against him really
classical trombone performance
i just dont understand what u mean when bob dylan very clearly is able to construct rhythm and harmony in his music and has plenty of songs that follow a certain form or not. like i thought u were just trolling at first but now im confused u have a weird view on what music is and isnt
im not saying that he isn't a musician i'm saying that he's hardly a musican. Yes there is rhythm and harmony and melody in his music but he doesn't have any kind of identity in any of those things. the art of what he does is fundamentally non musical which is why his legacy is also not musical really.
I'm about to be maybe a little bit hyperbolic and kinda goofy. it's pretty much impossible to make a bob dylan type beat because he's not doing anything musically distinctive to be recognizable. there's a lot of other artists this applies to but they're hopefully making some musical choices vocally. bob dylan isn't. he's hardly singing and he's not rapping over the most dime a dozen backing music which he's not always making. im not saying he has no talent but his talent isn't really musical.
That would be a tie
I fw sade heavy but lone might edge em out
Like it we’re being fr

He is one of those artists that people can get a little pretentious about ik what you mean
I think this has all been a misunderstanding and liking whatever you want it is good
Music is a beautiful thing and having your own unique taste is special
So basically bob is better

was Behind Blue Eyes the first power ballad occurred to me today that it might be
Yeah I’m not really taking away from Bob’s greatness, i wouldn’t agree with some of the slander on his name itt
And I do think he has more classic albums for his base, and was a prolific songwriter in his prime
I just strongly dislike when people act like if you don’t rank a white artist who honestly NOBODY in our culture listens to like that or grew up on his s*** prolly got into it later, over MJ people act like ur being ignorant or have a lesser opinion than them.
MJ was a great vocalist, performer, song writer, hands on producer etc and has several absolutely classic albums under his belt. If you like Bob Dylan more thats cool everybody got they own taste but just being pretentious like it’s obvious that dylan is better or that black people have even close to the same reverence for him is just annoying imo and led to this thread
No disrespect to Dylan’s artistry or influence itself
yeah I get that.
That's the impression I get from reading many of these posts.
However, I'd agree that it's difficult to separate the cultural impact both artists made from their music.
I'd like to say not to knock on MJ's artistry. That's the field I think where he's overrated. Convince me otherwise but I think that Dylan's intuitions were more fundamental and game-changing than MJ's.

I could agree just because MJ wasn’t game changing per say just played the game at a very high level
