What other genres do you listen to?
i don't get into a lot of metal at all tbh and im trying to get a better hold on a lot electronic subgenres (i know the main s*** though).
but i listen to all of them cause i like music
Everything changed not with Papas Got A Brand New Bag but a year earlier with Out Of Sight when the band started to accentuate the silence between the notes
close but not quite imo, still more a music historian take. id highlight the slight but intentional difference between the landing and of the kick and snare. accentuating the silence could be thought of as a arrangement thing, this is a rhythm thing.
props to you for knowing that s*** though

That's a shame there's loads of great drumming in metal
as for electronic I'm guessing you've heard Aphex

Yeah I don't play anything but have spent way too much of my life reading about and listening to the history. We've been discussing it at length in here for years if you felt like joining the banter

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmZmV4ro_Qogargantuan Prince vibes (who ive also seen live)
a little late period P-Funk too. my favourite band of the 70s for years. funk is my s***.
what you think of this one? just as good as hes ever been imo
Knockin On Heavens Door is a Bob Dylan song? I only know the Guns n Roses version–
Dylan says the proudest moment of his life is when Elvis covered one of his songs oddly it was a super deep cut that hadn't even been released yet. Elvis got ahold of it through industry connection.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-oOCo1Y1bwim ngl the music isn't engaging enough for me to really get into the lyrics. i know that's the point often but there's a balance for me that needs more music cause thats me
how about this?

yeah that Dylan song is probably appeals mainly to longtime fans but man it wallops me song breaks me down into the entire spectrum of shambles. surprised you found the first one more musically engaging considering how sparse it is.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AN2rfP6Wcchere's how the first dylan one registers for me musically by comparison to 2nd dylan.
more chords in the loop
+
more distinguishable melody lines (more note variety and it's easier to hear cause less instruments)
+
shorter song
and the chords were more dramatic
so yea thats what i heard in retrospect. the song i sent you was mostly microtonal i was curious if you would think it sounds out of tune or weird lol
it's interesting to see just how many different ways there are to hear things.

I would only be able to recognize something thats very out of tune but with surf guitar effects I think the line gets kinda hazy
Neil Young is tied with Dylan as my goat and he famously doesnt give a f*** if things are a little out of tune if the energy is right so im used to it probably
No disrespect to Bob Dylan but cmon now this light work for the king
I missed this and I was still right. Idk who can compete wit Mike but the list is short
Why wouldn’t you f*** with him
Just was never too big on his solo stuff.
I honestly don't know why
F*** with the "Jackson Five" heavy though.
