$20M for what?
keep in mind he was being investigated criminally for this at the same time as this civil settlement. The criminal investigation wasn’t closed until after. It would have been very unfair and risky for his defense to give their entire game plan in a civil case with his life on the line down the road during a criminal case. I actually believe they changed the law in California after this but don’t quote me.

It’s true, it wasn’t a consistent 10 year surveillance but there were over 60 organisations and multiple jurisdictions broken in order to snag evidence.. and none of it existed
MJ was shooting a video while given the news NL was raided in 03. He had no idea it was happening - which is the whole point of a raid anyway
Regardless, being surveillance over a portion of time doesn't necessarily clear someone off guilt.
Point isn't to say "MJ definitely did it"; but more so to say we just don't know, and there's no way for us to ever know

He beat his case in 05 and yet that was the one that really made it a mainstream thing to call him a pedo even though the evidence really shows that he’s not. Win or lose, a criminal trial is a huge spotlight and when it comes to an accusation like that people will automatically assume guilt even when the party in question is proven innocent.
It was easier to pay his way out the first time, but he wasn’t willing to be extorted again the second time because he was tired and wanted the facts to speak for themselves

This has been in public record for 30 years now and Jackson was put under the highest level of scrutiny. There is enough factual evidence out there to prove he did not do any wrongdoing.

He had to settle in 1993 so he COULD have a fair criminal trial which he pushed and pushed for.
Two grand juries refused to take it to trial because it was such obvious horseshit.
It wasn’t a no thought payment, it only came once all avenues were exhausted & so Jackson could keep his human rights

I feel you but the I’m talking about the criminal trial that was very much possible at the time of the settlement not just the civil. The disadvantage he would be at going from civil case to criminal case would be very unfair. It’s almost like the state could sit back and watch the entire defense strategy and what works and doesn’t before even starting the criminal case. Of course no criminal charges ultimately came with this one, but they were really trying to get it to stick.

He did take it to trial. And he beat it.
I was in school while it was going on. My teacher thought he did it. I remember seeing the papers calling him "Wacko Jacko". It was terrible.

He acted more like a child himself and less like a responsible adult, even when he was around other adults. We all saw what he was like. He was just another kid playing games and having sleepovers.
I don't think this behaviour was the work of a sinister, calculated, sexually motivated pedophile but I do think serious boundaries could have been crossed, more than likely. This would correlate with the testimony of the accusers.
The lack of evidence is meaningless if you accept he was alone with these kids. What evidence could they produce?

This is long but this is a really good pod Arian Foster (I know random) did about all the allegations and he pulls a lot of references that he puts into the video description to corroborate it. If you’re interested, this is a good place to start imo. It’s well organized.
Either way, I just feel like this is all such a tragedy however you look at it.
