they definitely coulda slowed down the fast forwarding a bit and the lack of Janet is probably the biggest slash on the film but I still loved it
Jaafar Jackson Best Actor Winner 2026
Facts bro did so well bless him for that performance it was one in a million
Just watched. Just gonna copy and paste my Letterboxd opinions
"Very complex feelings on this film. It barely feels like a movie. It feels like a highlights reel of Michael Jackson's life during the height of his career. Admittedly some of that is fun to watch. I struggled not to smile when Jaafar performed Bad. Bad being the first ever song I fell in love with as a child.
However, I think the movie would have been better if it focused on a specific era of Michael's life. I would have loved a movie entirely focused on the Thriller era. The making of the album, and the aftermath. I mean, that may be the most iconic, and important album in music history. I feel like a movie entirely based around its making is warranted.
A movie glossing over his allegations entirely feels very tone deaf, and cowardly in my honest opinion. I know his most die hard fans will look at this and formulate excuses.(I'm a massive fan too; but I'm not delusional). I'm aware of the reasoning the film makers gave as to why the allegations weren't covered. But its hard to believe that this wasn't a conscious decision.
Is a sequel even necessary? We've already covered his most iconic eras and moments. Do we REALLY want to see a movie that mostly covers his decline in mental and physical health, and his serious allegations. The topics feel more fitting for a documentary than mvoie.
I think they would have been better off making this movie 30-40 mins longer. Cover the Dangerous era, and HIStory era. Touch on the allegations a bit. And closing on his Super Bowl performance. Just describe the rest of his life in credits screen.
Overall, i mostly had fun with the movie. However, will i watch this again? Probably not. Jaafar did a fantastic job portraying his uncle. But i would much rather just pop on some of MJ's greatest performances on youtube."
I would have preferred a movie that purely focused on one section of his life. Like personally i would have preferred a movie purely focused on the making of Thriller.
I generally don't like Biopics because its very difficult to consolidate anybody's life into a 2 Hour film, and rarely ever works.
I think making a movie that centers around the making of the most successful album ever made feels like a movie worth making. And simultaneously acts a biopic.
"You know, I was, I was wondering, you know. If you could keep on because. The force has got a lot of power and it. It make me feel like"

they migt rese it tbh n hopefully add more bad era because after that all we've got era wise is history dangerous n invincible which had less iconic moments music video big dance routines that everyone knows overall than thriller n off the wall

The cowardly movie that's tone deaf because it doesn't cover the allegations should've been a movie that covered Thriller instead.
Sounds legit.

Don't understand how this is a contradiction.
This movie is attempting to be a highlight reel of his life. My suggestion is that I don't think we need another film. I believe this movie could have been 30-40 minutes longer, to cover the rest of the music career we care about. Then briefly touch on the controversial things in a credits ending.
A sequel would cover 5 years of music that aren't nearly as iconic as the music. Then the rest would mostly be the controversial topics. And regardless of where you stand on your beliefs with that, nobody want to see that. That sort of thing is better suited to a documentary.
The movie I am suggesting I would have preferred would be something that isn't attempting to encompass his entire life. Not covering those topics would be a more understandable when the movie is entirely focused on the creation of an album, and not specifically just the man himself. And even then I would still suggest that a movie like this do the typical biopic thing. Explain what happened to the people of the movie after this time period through text in the credits.
You seem to just be bitter at anybody giving any sort of negatives in their critiques. I didn't even hate the movie.

So if they released "The Making of Thriller"
It wouldn't have been called "cowardly" or "tone deaf" because of a "convenient" timeline?
This is absolute horse s*** - and the MJ Musical is already proof of it.
I gave negatives in my review of the movie, so again, more bullshit.

It's about exactly what you think it is.

Apologies for posting Vlad, but could you imagine if the movie opened with the walkout (no outrageously long credits sequence with startin something randomly playing) and it just hard cuts to Tito and his brothers (including michael) looking at the broken string and freaking the f*** out seconds before Joe comes back? And Tito is like "what the hell we gonna do now?" and the other brothers are like "you mean what the hell are YOU going to do now, Tito, you the one who broke it." before Joe comes, beats the hell outta him, then finds out he can play and gets a look in his eye.
f*** man they should have let this s*** breathe
Not gonna lie if you didn’t get to see this in Imax you missed out heavy
Movie wasn’t perfect but it might’ve been one of the best theatre experiences I ever had, probably the best since No Way Home opening night
Bro said he was dating Tatum Oneal when she was 14 and he was 19. A girl he knew since she was 12.
That in the movie?
