This looks worse ngl
biopics are stupid period bout 99% of the time let alone music biopics. there's like two actually good ones total
Soon to be 3
We got Em and 50 semi biopics during they first few years out I don't know if we'll ever get beyond how wild that was.
I find the semi-ones a bit more normal though because they're telling the stories of average people. Those guys had life stories screenwriters wanted to warp into films and producers had incentive to capitalize off real-time fame of stars. Anyone can get those types of stories and a traditional 50 or Em biopic is a far harder sell now despite legendary careers
The wild part we don't get much these days are rappers who Hollywood producers actively want in films, let alone with those budgets. Rappers had avenues for acting and far more hip hop films they don't now.
Madonna also been in development and Ridley Scott wants to do the BeeGees
Also wasn’t Joni Mitchell biopic casted recently?
I can’t wait until we get to where obscure artists are getting biopics
Last year, Kneecap, with only 1 album out got all 3 members to star as themselves in an a semi-autobiographical band origin story co-starring Michael Fassbender, premiered at Sundance and was Ireland's Oscar selection.
If you got a story that a screenwriter wants to tell i think it'll be possible. Idk about the post-career biopics of lesser-known acts though

Good pull. That was one of the more unique biopics too cause it was less about their come up and more about the preservation of the Irish language through music

i'm surprised i thought you would be more cynical about this but you must know something i don't
Should have been Chris Pratt
The more I think about it, the more a Michael Jackson biopic seems like a legitimately impossible project
I can understand why this one seems to just be a play-the-hits 'Remember this?' fest, the appeal seems to be in historical reenactment instead of getting to the heart of a deeply unknowable person
When Jaafar wears sunglasses, you are fully just looking at Michael Jackson, but his eyes just aren't the same, I feel for him, it's not an easy task to act, sing, dance, all while being compared to one of the most distinctive-looking and internationally-recognised people of all time
think it says a lot as well they're not leveraging a possible oscar campaign for part 1 at least
looks like made for tv film but will watch when it gets released hope im wrong n it does mj's musical legacy justice
@KingOfPop what you think so far
@KingOfPop what you think so far
Poster is embarrassing, that came out first and I was dreading seeing anything else but after seeing the teaser and the reaction to it I'm looking forward to April
This s*** looks flawless, took a sec to realize they werent just using the actual clips as a lil montage
S*** looks ass
(The AI not the frame)
I ain’t watching no damn trailer. But I will be seated day 1 no matter what!
Not trying to get spoiled on this Michael Jackson movie
