This movie deserved a better director
The first half was weaker, I'm not too well versed with technical terms and all but the director wasn't able to utilise the tragic backstory he got to work with and the great actor portraying the father very well.
Things felt too rushed and didn't have the impact they should have. I think better camerawork and editing would have made those childhood scenes at home way better. Also I think atleast one of the brothers should have had a proper speaking part, they just felt like NPC characters.

I liked the second half more due to the music for sure, however it felt a bit scatterbrained.

Thriller ideally should have been THE focus of the second half.Him making his magnus opus and the biggest album of all time deserved more.The finale would have hit harder too, like showing him making the album which broke all records that existed, and then still not being able to tour it due to the abusive father would have created more impact and the end would have been more cathartic.

Also they nailed the technical aspects of Michael (the looks, the voice, mannerisms, dancing, etc) however they could have written the role better.

It was still worth watching the movie to hear songs like Thriller, Human Nature, Bad, etc. on the big screen.
I wanted to hear the songs on the big screen and I got to hear them so I'm not that disappointed but yeah they had a lot to work with and didn't make the most of it.
