People that threatened my life , slandered my name , released personal information . Yet again their excuse is the internet and they would never say those things in real life because they know they could be held accountable
As a black man who works with a subset of people who have Tourette’s on the daily, honestly I won’t fully blame the man
BAFTA and the other organizers on the other hand…disgraceful and possibly intentional oversight on their part
Respect for also doing the work this is all I am saying
i think people with tourette's are capable of harboring evil beliefs like everyone else idk, this whole let's absolve them of everything s*** is so backwards
It's the saying "two things can be true"
Cool he said nigga cus of tourettes but how do we know he doesn't give a f*** that he called two black people a nigga?
Thats my entire point of the lack of apology, you are now putting me in the position to ASSUME you have tourettes and arent ALSO racist when you very clearly can be a racist person who also has tourettes.
At a certain point yall kind of unserious
i think people with tourette's are capable of harboring evil beliefs like everyone else idk, this whole let's absolve them of everything s*** is so backwards
Example kids with autism sometimes physically slap or spit or other things do you recognize they don’t know their actions ?
Less surprising but still disheartening most of the empathy other white people extend online is to the assailant first and not the 2 black men on stage getting called a slur.
Racism / anti-blackness is seen as nothing to so many I genuinely cannot believe were just meant to brush this off or worse be told how to feel about it
Then how do we know he didn't mean it...
they pre warned people about tourette’s and had the host explain after + the guy apparently left after he said it + it’s a known feature of tourettes to say things targeted at a person + it would make no sense for him to do that on what it probably the biggest night of his life
i agree he should release a public statement but we don’t know if he said anything privately and the bbc should be cutting that on broadcast and the whole situation could have been avoided anyway
People that taunted me for half a decade and clowned a hate crime . I said they bring nothing positive to my existence
how you know they don’t have tourettes and you’re wishing death against disabled people?
At a certain point yall kind of unserious
you just said "im not against you" so wdym "yall"
There is nothing wrong with the stance of believing someone can have tourettes and ALSO be racist. You do realize some racist people have tourettes?
With the lack of apology, I don't have to give someone grace. It's that simple. And I'm not even in here spewing hatred towards the guy at all.
i think people with tourette's are capable of harboring evil beliefs like everyone else idk, this whole let's absolve them of everything s*** is so backwards
I genuinely cannot believe the sentiment online from so many is to basically say anti-blackness is excusable, like he said a bad word and not a charged slur (intentional or not)
how you know they don’t have tourettes and you’re wishing death against disabled people?
They called me the r word many times for having autism and openly said they were edgy . I know exactly who they are
Example kids with autism sometimes physically slap or spit or other things do you recognize they don’t know their actions ?
this example doesn't work cus they're children that don't know better about their condition and need to be taught by responsible adults. this is a full grown man that advocates for his illness and was representing a movie about his life with it, he willingly put himself in that room knowing what he's capable of and allowed himself to do it for hours. i mean the idea of that is absurd man lmao
i wasn’t even gonna bring up dudes retárdation until i learned he didn’t apologize. so until he apologizes…oh well
Honestly kill him

well we shall see, if he apologized privately I have no issue with that. I'm not of the stance of "I need to see a public apology!"
But I just feel its human nature to naturally apologize for something that you didn't mean to do even if it's due to something out of your control
Example kids with autism sometimes physically slap or spit or other things do you recognize they don’t know their actions ?
I think it depends person to person honestly. You can’t really judge in a vacuum. Some autistic people do understand right from wrong.
you just said "im not against you" so wdym "yall"

Trying to determine whether a person with Tourette’s is misogynist , homophobic , racist is the point of unserious . If they are diagnosed with the condition .
If a black person had yelled a slur on someone else they would NOT have defended him

Oh yes I know I worked with them for multiple years but it’s a process of getting them to understand . Progress isn’t linear and no matter what they can get over stimulated

So basically what you're saying is, with the lack of apology, I'm suppose to always give the benefit of the doubt?
If a black person had yelled a slur on someone else they would NOT have defended him
this also if we’re being honest…
my gripe is not with what happened but more so with the empathy extended to parties in this situation. Don't know if anyone feels the same way / gets what I mean
Respect for also doing the work this is all I am saying
There’s a part of this pathology that results in people saying or expressing horribly offensive things that aren’t in line with their actual desires or values, all im gonna say on the matter
this s*** taking off in a different direction, I can understand and empathize but based off my own life experiences I can’t fully agree
So basically what you're saying is, with the lack of apology, I'm suppose to always give the benefit of the doubt?
That’s not what I am saying either . I am saying this site has a profound misunderstanding of mental disabilities and conditions this has been known on here for years . It’s the one case this site is the LEAST progressive on by far .
