Inexcusable TBH, humiliating for the people on stage. Someone should’ve made the unpopular but fundamentally right call and either sat him backstage in a viewing room or not let him come to the awards.

Knowing there’s a risk he’s going to shout something like that, regardless of whether it reflects his true feelings or not, the word carries meaning and NO ONE should be on the receiving end of it, regardless of who’s saying it and why.

Also the hurt that would come with him having to be alone (or his whole team/cast could’ve watched with him from another room) would’ve been infinitely less than the feeling that comes with that s*** being said to two black men on stage in front of an entire room and now in front of the world.

Obviously the idea of him being alone and isolated is one that people don’t like but the movies whole crew and family/friends could’ve been there, and this whole s*** would’ve been avoided

I’m crying bro like why can’t you find another word to precede the slur the fact you don’t hear him say I LOVE MY or freee my as his tik just lets you know how white people think

Because the disability is around saying offensive and hurtful s***, man. If you could shroud it in positive stuff they would obviously do that every time it’s an uncontrollable unstoppable itch to blurt out without a second to think or alter it

But ill shorten it. Tourettes patients most of the time have pure OCD. Racist and problematic thoughts run at the worst times which fuels his tourettes to scream them more.

Doesnt excuse it at all and he shouldnt have been there if he knew he was bad that day.

that’s def a word that you learn or hear being used constantly around you

it’s not just some random s*** that’ll pop up in your head without ever knowing about it

i have tourette’s and i never yell racist slurs only homophobics ones

    Dude wtf is this?

Everyone knows the word don’t be stupid, doesn’t mean it’s casually used around you.

And oh great, since you don’t shout racial slurs I guess that means everyone is the exact same as you and suffers everything to the same degree

That’s tourettes too but it’s just different types. Some people just flick their hand or twitch their eyes slightly. The noise and sound ones are rarer and then the swearing obscene stuff one is the rarest

We might need to be teaching about mental illnesses in the schools

  • “Thanks for your understanding and helping create a respectful space for everyone.”

You know except for the woman being told to f*** off or the 2 black men being humiliated, let's put one person's comfort over the comfort of others instead of creating a middle ground that coulda stopped all this from happening man white people hilarious.

Alan C*******deserves a few curb stomps too.

I think you can be both informed and also nuanced enough to not treat disabled people like toddlers al the time, lot of them wouldn't want that.

im not excusing his behavior he shouldnt have been there and this is still his fault. You live with your illnesses and know what is a good situation to be in so he shouldve known better. But Dude i replied to is just uninformed about tourettes and spewing bull s***.

    Clearly you do.

Oh you got autism that makes you super good at math and can be an accountant and graduate college and live a mostly normal life?

Oh I guess kids with high level non-verbal autism who can’t even speak words or take care of themselves should be expected to do that too

  • I will say I think the reaction would be more or less the same.

What I do want to ask is does Tourettes take away the ability of self-examination? @Thread serious question btw, like could he have at any point thought "yo, I'm kinda not having a good day today" and decided against his better judgement?
